Jump For Joy! The Off-Broadway cast recording of the New York premiere production of the new musical Unexpected Joy, with book and lyrics by Bill Russell (Side Show) and music by Janet Hood (Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens with Bill Russell), will be recorded and released by JAY Records. Produced by John Yap, the recording will feature the original cast of The York Theatre Company production who will gather at Sear Sound Studios (353 West 48th Street) on Monday, May 14, 2018 to lay down the tracks for the recording.

Epifo Music will release Adrian Aardvark's latest release, Dying Optimistically, digitally on April 20. A limited-edition vinyl edition will be available online at the band's website and at Adrian Aardvark's concerts.

Join Hercules and Arizona Opera on an epic quest, fighting legions of supernatural monsters in the underworld with Hercules vs Vampires. Live, on-stage singers, orchestra and conductor synchronize a newly-composed score from Patrick Morganelli with the 1961 film Hercules in the Haunted World, a fine sword-and-sandal tribute to mythology. Hercules vs Vampires comes to Tucson's Fox Theatre (17 W. Congress St.) on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. and Phoenix's Symphony Hall (75 N. 2nd St.) on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m.

Though I'm extremely familiar with Tom Jones' (words) and Harvey Schmidt's (music) most popular work, THE FANTASTICKS, I had never seen their follow up, CELEBRATION. What I'd read while doing research was that it really fizzled once it was on Broadway. However, after seeing it I can understand why; it's a smaller scaled show that requires just the right venue to succeed. That's why I'm so glad New Line Theatre opened their 26th season with this fanciful and tune-filled musical. Through their superlative efforts we're able to see the premiere of a version that's been revised by Tom Jones. I'm not sure what was changed, but what we're privy to is a very engaging and entertaining production that will make you wonder why it isn't performed with more regularity. The score itself is gorgeous, and I cannot recommend this neglected gem highly enough.

Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, has added Allison Guinn (On The Town), Emma Stratton (Bullets Over Broadway), Jeff Nominee Nathan Gardner (Death for Five Voices), Brad Foster Reinking (Shrek), and Christopher Lee Viljoen (54 Sings Chess) to their cast of BROADWAY GOES TO THE MOVIES on August 22nd, 2016.

Serenbe Playhouse, recipient of the prestigious American Theatre Wing grant (2015), presents the fourth show in its 2016 season, Miss Saigon, with music by Claude- Michel Schonberg; lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., and Alain Boublil; adapted from the original French lyrics by Alain Boublil. The show is directed by Brian Clowdus, music direction is by Chris Brent Davis, and choreography is by Bubba Carr. The show opened on July 21 and has already been extended to August 14. Rock of Ages runs July 29 through Aug. 7. Evening performances are July 29, 30 - 31 and Aug. 3-6 at 7:30 and Matinees are July 31 and Aug. 3 and 7 at 2:00pm.
