Newsies, the new American musical which will move to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall, will be given an original Broadway cast recording. The musical's cast is recording the album from March 4th-5th and it is set to be released by Ghostlight Records in the spring.

The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will play its first Broadway preview on March 15th prior to its March 29th opening night; the final performance is scheduled for June 10th.

Earlier this week, Two Boots Pizza in Hell's Kitchen (9th Ave. and 44th St.) unveiled their new pizza inspired by GODSPELL. The GODSPELL pizza contains casear chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic and jalapeño pesto on a white pie. Disney Theatrical Productions has just announced that a limited number of orchestra tickets to Newsies will be available via lottery at The Nederlander Theatre beginning March 15th. Beginning two and a half hours before every performance, patrons are invited to enter the lottery; winners will be drawn two hours before each performance. Winners may then purchase up to two $30.00 cash only tickets to that day's performance. Winners must be present with valid identification at the time of the drawing. The lottery will be offered before every performance other than the opening night performance on March 29th. Complete terms and conditions of the lottery can be found below.

Brent Barrett, Jenn Harris and the entire cast of SILENCE! The Musical took to the stage at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble yesterday, February 23rd at 5 PM to perform selections from the hit parody of the classic film The Silence of the Lambs. Brian J. Disney Theatrical Productions has just announced the song list for the upcoming Broadway production of Newsies, beginning performances at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W. 41st Street) on March 15th. The score will feature the best-loved songs from the film - many with new lyrics, counterpoints and arrangements to suit new plot points and the more fully fleshed out characterizations - and six songs added for the stage, including three songs newly written for Broadway since the Paper Mill production.
