NEWSIES is now in previews at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre. It will play a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed run at Paper Mill Playhouse in fall 2011. The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will open on March 29th; the final performance is scheduled for June 10

Newsies, the new American musical, begins performances tonight, Thursday, March 15, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a limited run. Kicking off their limited run, the Broadway company of Newsies will make their national television debut on Thursday, March 22nd when they perform "Seize The Day" and "Santa Fe" on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Jeremy Jordan, who stars as Jack Kelly in Newsies on Broadway, sat down with the co-hosts of the ABC daytime television program 'The View' yesterday, March 13th. This marked Jordan's second appearance on 'The View;' he and the cast of Newsies debuted two songs from the show while it was at Paper Mill Playhouse, an appearance that was instrumental in the show's eventual Broadway transfer. The Old Globe will open its 2012-13 Winter Season with the World Premiere of Allegiance - A New American Musical. Created by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione with music and lyrics by Kuo, the original musical tells the story of a Japanese American family forced into an internment camp during World War II. Directed by Stafford Arima (Carrie, Altar Boyz, West End premiere of Ragtime), the production features musical direction and arrangements by Lynne Shankel (Cry-Baby, Company) and choreography by Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, South Pacific). Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Misérables), television and film icon George Takei ('Star Trek,' 'Heroes') and Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent) will star.

Newsies, the new American musical which will move to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a strictly limited 101 performance run following its critically-hailed stint at Paper Mill Playhouse last fall, will be given an original Broadway cast recording. The musical's cast is recording the album from March 4th-5th and it is set to be released by Ghostlight Records in the spring.
