The ever-evolving musical of all the news that's fit to spoof welcomed celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton last month as the show's inaugural guest star. Ms McArdle joins the cast through December 2nd.

Former Saturday Night Live funny-girl Cheri Oteri joins the cast of off Broadway's NEWSical The Musical for four weeks only. NEWSical the Musical is the forever changing, completely un-sanitized musical mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof. From Bloomberg's sign language interpreter to Honey Boo Boo Child to the aftermath of the 2012 Presidential Election, NEWSicalthe Musical sets all of today's biggest pop culture headlines to song. Earlier this fall, celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton joined the show for a limited run, followed by Broadway's original Annie, Andrea McArdle. Comedian Cheri Oteri is the next guest star to take the raucous stage. She'll appear in NEWSical The Musical from December3rd through December 30th.

There may have been 40 cabaret performers strutting their stuff this past week at the 23rd New York Cabaret Convention at the Rose Theater at Lincoln Center, but the true star of the three-night extravaganza (October 17-19) was the late Donald Smith, the cabaret impresario and guru to the genre's luminaries, who died this past March at 79. Sponsored by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, which Smith founded in 1985, this year's Convention featured numerous homages to Smith from the performers, many of whom had their career's supported and advanced with the help of the colorful and beloved cabaret producer and promoter. Early in Wednesday's Gala Opening Night show, the 'first lady of the American keyboard' Barbara Carroll called her friend Donald Smith 'the quintessential New Yorker,' and when Mark Nadler closed night one with George and Ira Gershwin's 'Our Love Is Here to Stay,' he said, 'Everybody who cares about the myths of these songs are in this room tonight.' Well, it was clear that anyone who cared about Donald Smith was at the Rose Theater for at least one of the three shows.

Susan Mosher and Emily McNamara join the cast of the uproarious off-Broadway musical revue, NEWSical the Musical, beginning October 15th. Susan Mosher, who starred in Hairspray on Broadway, will replace Leslie Kritzer. Nightlife sensation Emily McNamara steps in for a limited run, filling in for Christine Pedi until October 26th.

Multi-talented actress, singer, television host, playwright, songwriter and author Kathie Lee Gifford hosted this year's Broadway on Broadway this morning, Sunday, September 9th, presented by United Airlines and The New York Times. The event kicked off the 2012-2013 Broadway season with star performances from new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 30-piece live orchestra directed by Alex Lacamoire. Proceeds from this one-night concert will benefit the American Traditions Competition. The multi-part competition is held January 15-19, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension and the Lucas Theatre for the Arts.

Broadway's Leslie Kritzer joins the cast of Rick Crom's Off-Broadway musical revue NEWSical the Musical beginning Sept. 8. Internet gossip columnist Perez Hilton was announced last week as joining the cast of the long-running show.
