54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents La-Ti-Do on September 1, 2015 at 9:30pm. La-Ti-Do is a cabaret where musical theatre and spoken word poetry collide. La-Ti-Do debuts at 54 Below featuring some of both Washington, DC and New York's finest musical and spoken word talent.

Continuing its ongoing efforts of supporting the development of new musicals and plays under its SigWorks program, Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA is currently workshopping SCKBSTD by Grammy Award-winning composer/lyricist Bruce Hornsby, lyricist Chip deMatteo and book writer Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J, Walter Cronkite is Dead) based on an original book by Clay McLeod Chapman (rest area, The Tribe Trilogy). The workshop will culminate in an invitation only presentation.

The Ford's Theatre Society 2014-2015 season continues with the musical Freedom's Song: Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, directed by Jeff Calhoun, March 13 through May 20, 2015, at the historic Ford's Theatre (511 Tenth Street NW, Washington, D.C.). A new adaptation of the Broadway musical The Civil War, Freedom's Song features the words of Abraham Lincoln and music inspired by the letters of those who lived through the Civil War. The production is part of Ford's 150: Remembering the Lincoln Assassination, a series of events marking the 150 years since Abraham Lincoln's assassination at Ford's Theatre.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Broadway production this fall, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater mounts a new staging of Fiddler on the Roof, the iconic musical that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide. Helmed by Artistic Director Molly Smith, the production features choreography by Arena favoriteParker Esse, who adapts the original Jerome Robbins choreography for an in-the-round staging, and a 10-piece orchestra led by Musical Director Paul Sportelli (Arena's My Fair Lady, Light in the Piazza). The production celebrated its opening on November 12 with Sheldon Harnick and more, and BroadwayWorld has photos below!

Featuring a book by Joseph Stein, music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and based on Sholem Aleichem stories, Fiddler on the Roof runs tonight, October 31, 2014-January 4, 2015 in the Fichandler Stage.

On October 20, 2014, Florence Lacey (Broadway's Follies, Evita and Signature's Sunset Boulevard), Megan Lawrence (Broadway's Hair and Signature's Cabaret), Jacquelyn Piro Donovan (Broadway's Les Miserables and Signature's The Witches of Eastwick), Natascia Diaz (Broadway's Man of La Mancha and Signature's The Threepenny Opera) and Nick Blaemire (Broadway's Godspell and Signature's Glory Days) performed alongside 75 Signature Theatre artists and an 18-piece orchestra as Virginia's Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre celebrated its 25th Anniversary. With performances from 27 shows over the last 25 years, including Sweeney Todd, The Rhythm Club, Urinetown, The Boy Detective Fails, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Dreamgirls, Chess, and many more. Next Monday, The Rainbow Theatre Project presents the final installment of their inaugural season - a concert reading of the much-touted Off Broadway musical YANK! by brothers David and Joseph Zellnik. Co-directed by Factory 449 Producing Artistic Director Rick Hammerly and the Director of Artistic Programming at Ford's Theatre, Patrick Pearson, with Musical direction and accompaniment by Adam Wiggins, YANK! plays at Source in D.C. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

The Ford's Theatre 2013-2014 season continues with the musical Violet, directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun (Broadway's Newsies), now through February 23, 2014. Violet features a dynamic score of bluegrass, gospel, country and rock music by four-time Tony Award-nominated composerJeanine Tesori (the recent Fun Home; Broadway's Caroline, or Change;Thoroughly Modern Millie; Shrek the Musical).
