MSNBC was the #2 cable news network for the month of June, topping CNN and HLN in key ratings categories, according to data from Nielsen. Without big news events to drive ratings, CNN dropped 43% in weekday Primetime and 40% in daytime among A25-54 compared to May 2013. FOX News Channel saw the network's lowest weekday Primetime performance among A25-54 in more than twelve years - since August 2001.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthews, 67, has signed a new long-term deal to remain with the network through the next presidential election. Under his the new contract, the long-time news commentator will officially retire from his Syndicated Sunday show THE CHRIS MATTHEWS SHOW this summer. The final episode is set to air on July 21.

The bipartisan favorite of both theatre and political fans, Will on the Hill returns to the Shakespeare Theatre Company this spring. This year's Will on the Hill is marked by a performance of Toil and Trouble, an original play by Peter Byrne written with assistance from The West Wing Writers Group. Will on the Hill will be directed by STC Associate Director Alan Paul and take place on Monday, May 6, 2013, in Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW). The evening begins with a VIP cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the performance at 7:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner immediately following the performance.

In February, MSNBC had the network's highest -rated State of the Union address in network history among A25-54 and total viewers, topping FOX News Channel among A25-54. MSNBC also had the network's most-watched news documentary in more than ten years with 'Hubris, The Selling the Iraq War' hosted by Rachel Maddow which debuted on February 18.
