On Saturday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m., EDT, medici.tv (www.medici.tv) will present a free, live webcast of the New York Philharmonic's concert, conducted by Music Director Alan Gilbert, of 20th- and 21st-century music at the newly opened Philharmonie de Paris, marking the first time an American orchestra is performing at the venue.

This spring, Carnegie Hall celebrates the resurgence in interest in recent decades of the performance of the music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras.

Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam; the Royal Concertgebouw; and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, David Robertson, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director - performed by violinist Leila Josefowicz, for whom it is written and dedicated. Carnegie Hall today announced that Sanford I. Weill, Chairman of Carnegie Hall's Board of Trustees since 1991, will retire from this post after 24 remarkable years of service and a total of 32 years as a Carnegie Hall trustee. Mr. Weill will continue to serve as a member of Carnegie Hall's board, transitioning to a new role as President, a title formerly held by the late violinist Isaac Stern. Mr. Weill is only the second person to hold the title of President since Carnegie Hall was established as a non-profit in 1960.

After eight seasons with the New York Philharmonic, Alan Gilbert will step down as music director in 2017, the orchestra said.

Following the final performances in his celebrated Nielsen Project and his triumphant Verdi Requiem with the New York Philharmonic, Alan Gilbert returns to the Metropolitan Opera for the first time in seven years to conduct ten performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni, from tonight, February 4 to March 6, leading Mozart's retelling of the Don Juan legend in Michael Grandage's production.

With all its money problems, why hasn't the Met thought about doing some lesser known works in concert? Or, for that matter, marshalled some of its glamorous resources to put on the Verdi REQUIEM? For the time being, we have to be grateful for the New York Philharmonic and its Music Director Alan Gilbert for reminding us how powerful this music can be.

Carnegie Hall today announced details for an extensive tour to China by the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) in July 2015.

On Sunday, January 18, at 4 pm at Richardson Auditorium, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents Scenic Rhythms, a concert featuring guitar soloist Robert Belini? performing Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. Daniel Boico will guest conduct the program which also includes Ottorino Respighi's Trittico Botticelliano and Ludwig van Beethoven'sSymphony No. 7 in A Major.

The New York Philharmonic has announced the 2014-15 season's free Insights at the Atrium series. All held at the David Rubinstein Atrium and beginning at 7:30 p.m., these events combine discussion, often with live performance and video, to explore themes of the season.
