On Thursday, June 28th, Los Angeles theatre lovers were given a gift of a very rare and unique experience that took them back in time, when the Broadway theatre scene in downtown Los Angeles used to rival that of New York's Great White Way. An eclectic list of Hollywood representatives have been known to take Red Lines walking tours of the silver screen capital's Hollywood Boulevard. It was an equally impressive list of individuals who gathered for the recent tour of Broadway theatres, including JoAnne Worley, Erin Murphy, Michael Learned, and many others. Rob McClure, who originated the role of Chaplin at the La Jolla Playhouse, will star in the title role of the new Broadway musical CHAPLIN. A new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, CHAPLIN will open on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Acclaimed director/choreographer Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles® (BAFTA Los Angeles), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, announced today that American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe will chair the Britannia Committee, which oversees the production of the Britannia Awards. The 2012 Britannia Awards will take place on Wednesday, November 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
