The personal theatrical papers of Katharine Hepburn, which were acquired by The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in 2007, will be on view for the first time in the new library exhibition, Katharine Hepburn: In Her Own Files, opening Wednesday, June 10. Her long and rich theater career is documented through typescripts (some, like the script for Coco, annotated in Hepburn?s hand), hundreds of photographs (publicity shots and formal portraits, as well as informal snapshots and rehearsal candids), scrapbooks, promotional ephemera, and sixty years of correspondence (fan mail, congratulatory notes, and general letters from such notable friends and admirers as Judy Garland, Richard Burton, John Ford, Vivien Leigh, Peter O?Toole, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, and Jeremy Irons, among scores of others. She saved telegrams from her friends and from stage crews and even the cards that come with flower bouquets, including many signed ?Pot,? Hepburn?s pet name for long-time companion Spencer Tracy). The exhibition continues through Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Vincent Astor Gallery of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Dorothy and Lewis B. CAPA's 2009 Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 39th anniversary with a lineup of classics, cult favorites, and most beloved films. The 2009 series will run July 17 - August 30, at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.), and is made possible through the generous support of National City, now a part of PNC.

The Academy of Magical Arts is proud to annouce that Neil Patrick Harris is both co-producing and hosting the Academy of Magical Arts Awards (The Oscars of Magic) on March 8th. Neil is giving the traditional event a face lift and bringing an entirely restructured format for the program to a new venue. Also, although not common knowledge, Neal is also an amature magician.

The tour begins in the lobby with a brief overview of the Orpheum's 80 years, and then progresses to the stage where Orpheum Star Search champion Brandon Bailey will showcase his winning performance. Guests will also have the opportunity to see the colorful show murals that line the hall of dressing rooms where leading men such as Cary Grant and Yul Brynner , crooners like Johnny Mathis and Robert Goulet, and sex symbol Mae West prepped before performing to a sold out theatre. Enjoy a different look, the star's perspective, of the ornate chandeliers and gilded moldings of one of the oldest theatres in the country. The Orpheum joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

When a writer has done the number of celebrity interviews that I have, he realizes that there are a handful of celebrities he would never want to meet again. Most, however, are genuinely nice people and enjoyable to work with. There are others who become friends-true and genuine friends. Such is the relationship that has developed between me and Nick Spangler who is currently starring as Matt in the lovely revival of The Fantasticks which is enjoying a healthy run Off Broadway.

Toby Jones found the role quite interesting. 'Playing a character like Irving Lazar...I've met lots of people who knew him, so it was slightly intimidating,' he says. 'There's very little information about him available other than one ghosted autobiography. My impression is of a man very driven. He started off in a poor Russian-Jewish family in Brooklyn and basically fought his way up to become the top literary agent in the business.'

After extensive development in New York at the York Theatre and the Vineyard Theatre, the world premiere of the musical 'The Medium at Large' took place Sunday afternoon, October 19, 2008, at the Village Players Performing Arts Center in Oak Park, Illinois, just over Chicago's western border. Starring Tony Award nominee John Herrera (Neville in 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood') as the titular spiritualist, the show shows promise in negotiating a tricky premise and an even trickier payoff.

Rydell High got a new class couple, Tuesday, July 22, 2008 when Derek Keeling and Ashley Spencer joined the cast in the lead roles of Danny and Sandy. Derek and Ashley were both popular finalists on the NBC talent competition series Grease: You're the One That I Want. BroadwayWorld TV spent some time with Derek as he got ready for his big Broadway debut!

Westport Country Playhouse announced that Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors of Westport Country Playhouse, will play Abby and Martha Brewster, respectively, in a reading of the comedy classic, 'Arsenic and Old Lace' by Joseph Kesselring, on Monday, July 14, 7 p.m. John Tillinger will direct. The play reading is part of the Playhouse's 'Funny Mondays' series, showcasing both new and vintage comedies and curated by Ms. Keefe.
