TWEED TheaterWorks & Theater 80 St. Marks have announced the highly anticipated NYC return of Varla Jean Merman with Boston's acclaimed Gold Dust Orphans in the New York premiere of MILDRED FIERCE, a dizzily entertaining sendup of the 1945 classic 'Mildred Pierce', which will begin previews today, October 5that Theater 80 St. Marks. The production, written by Ryan Landry will have it's official opening today, October 12th at 10:30PM and will continue performances until October 27th.

Porchlight Music Theatre is proud to announce the first production in its new series presenting the 'lost' gems of one particular year in Broadway history, 'Porchlight Revisits...' The inaugural series focuses on the year 1964 and opens with Anyone Can Whistle, book by Arthur Laurents (Gypsy, West Side Story) and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Follies, Sweeney Todd), starring Rebecca Finnegan, with direction by Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by Aaron Benham. Presented for one night only, Anyone Can Whistle plays tonight, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed the sad news that Tony-nominated stage and screen star Jane Connell has passed away. She was 87.

Jeffery Roberson, better known on stage and screen as his drag icon alter-ego Varla Jean Merman, will appear at London's Leicester Square Theatre in her hit comedy show "The Book of Merman" September 19 - 21. She is joined on a double-bill by fast-rising Well-Strung, the Singing String Quartet who've just had two recent hit Off-Broadway productions in New York and their first album released this year.
