According to their Twitter cast members of AMERICAN IDIOT will appear at Housing Works July 7 between 6 and 8pm. Attendees are encouraged to donate clothes to the organization and will have the opportunity to win tickets to the show as well as meet the cast.

Actors' Equity Association announced today that Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT has been selected as the recipient of its Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2009-2010 Season. According to published reports and rock trio frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day has begun to work on their new album.

Yesterday, March 11, work on AMERICAN IDIOT was temporarily delayed when a fire broke out in the elevator shaft of the St. James Theatre. While an initial report into the FDNY indicated that someone was trapped inside the elevator, upon arrival firefighters confirmed that while the fire did indeed initiate in the elevator shaft, no one was inside. The building was evacuated and no one was harmed. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.

This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.

The 52ND Annual Grammy Awards took place live on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and were broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-11:30pm (ET/PT).
