San Diego Junior Theatre to present THE WIZARD OF OZ

San Diego Junior Theatre, with a mission to provide engaging, innovative, high-quality theatre education and productions for children of all cultural heritages, ages, abilities and levels of interest produces The Wizard of Oz, directed and choreographed by active San Diego artist, Carlos Mendoza. The production runs from April 28th - May 14th. Performances are Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. The production will showcase the work of 45 San Diego Junior Theatre youth performers and 26 youth technicians, ranging in age from 8 to18.

Cutting Ball Theatre presents AvantGardARAMA!

San Francisco's cutting-edge and highly acclaimed experimentalCutting Ball Theater kicks off its 18th season with Avant GardARAMA! an all-in-one performance festival of seven short experimental plays showcasing the work of Bay Area directors. One of these short plays, a winning submission from a Cutting Ball Theater writer's workshop, is penned by a 16 year old student from San Francisco's celebrated Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts and directed by one of his instructors. Avant GardARAMA! runs October 5 - 23 at Cutting Ball's venue at the EXIT on Taylor (located at 277 Taylor Street at Ellis). Preview is October 5, Press Night is October 6, and Gala Opening Night is October 7. Clap your hands if you can believe it, the Tony Award-winning musical production 'Peter Pan' soars back to Moonlight Amphitheatre from July 20, 2016 to Aug. 6, 2016 at 8 p.m. The classic, family favorite production hit the Broadway stage in 1954 and has since been adapted for the movie screen several times for more than 60 years. The original Broadway production and revivals received nine Tony Award nominations with the most recent in 1999 for Best Revival of a Musical. VISTA, CA-Producing Artistic Director Steven Glaudini announces the 2015 Winter Season at the AVO Playhouse. The winter season kicks off Moonlight's celebration of its 35th anniversary year with three productions in the historic AVO Playhouse located in the Vista Village. Subscriptions, priced at $76 for three shows, will go on sale September 22. Single tickets, priced from $27-$32, will go on sale November 11.

Producing Artistic Director Steven Glaudini today announces Moonlight Stage Productions' 24th Winter Season at the AVO Playhouse. For the first time, the three-show season will include two musicals along with a classic comedy. "Moonlight and musicals are practically synonymous," Glaudini said. "Our AVO musicals have historically been hugely popular with audiences, so I want to deliver what our patrons look to Moonlight for and that is professionally produced musical theatre. The addition of a second musical will fulfill that promise. But we include a non-musical show to keep the season interesting and to be able to offer something for everyone."

Salgado Productions just presented the first staged reading of Carlos Mendoza's 'Valencia' musical at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater as part of the 2013 Playwrights Unit Festival of Readings and Insight Series. Director/Choreographer Luis Salgado directed the reading as well as produce the show as it evolves. Broadway's In The Heights cast members Blanca Camacho, Doreen Montalvo and Ruben Flores are part of the cast that bring life to the very human characters of this compelling story of a loving elderly home, Valencia. For the past several weeks, Broadway's Davis Gaines has took to the stage as Don Quixote in the Musical Theatre West production of Man of La Mancha at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts. Having received rave notices since its February 10 opening of a fourteen performance run, BWW TV's Los Angeles Correspondents Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans visited Gaines and company to reflect on the run as it prepares for closing on Sunday, February 26. Broadway composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz went to see yesterday's matinee of Musical Theatre West's production MAN OF LA MANCHA. At the evening performance, Martha Wasserman (widow of Dale Wasserman) showed up with French actor David Serero, who is doing the role of Cervantes in the French production. See the photos below!
