The 92nd Street Y opens its 40th anniversary season of Lyrics & LyricistsTM with Babalu-The American Songbook Goes Latin: Featuring the Music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra. The show's artistic director is Desi Arnaz's daughter LUCIE ARNAZ, who also hosts and performs.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Michele Lee (Tale of the Allergist's Wife), Tony Award-winner Debra Monk (Curtains), Tracee Ellis Ross ('Girlfriends') and Casey Wilson ('Saturday Night Live') will join the rotating cast of Love, Loss and What I Wore. They join the show January 6 through January 31, 2009, alongside the returning Katie Finneran. Love, Loss, and What I Wore, an intimate collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, directed by Karen Carpenter and based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman, opened October 1, 2009 to rave reviews at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 Street, NYC) and has been extended through March 2010.

Rhea Perlman and daugther Lucy DeVito will unite onstage for the first time in the production of LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE. The two will join the rotating cast for the November 18th through December 13th leg of the show. The two will play a host of roles, including several mother-daughter relationships.

The off-Broadway hit, Love, Loss and What I Wore will welcome a new cast on February 3, including funny-women Janeane Garofalo, Carol Kane, June Diane Raphael and Caroline Rhea, The New York Times reports. Beginning March 3, they will be followed by newcomers Fran Drescher and Didi Conn. As previously reported, Love, Loss and What I Wore has recouped its capitalization costs in only 11 weeks (short by any standards) and is now being considered for both sit-down engagements as well as a national tour for 2011.

The New York Times reports that for tonight's performance of 'Love, Loss, and What I Wore' an absent Kristin Chenoweth will be replaced by Katie Finneran, who has previously appeared in the show. The 92nd Street Y has announced casting for the 2010 season of Lyrics & Lyricists. Lucie Arnaz, Debby Boone, Capathia Jenkins, James Naughton and Raúl Esparza are among the performers who will present the music of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, Johnny Burke and Hoagy Carmichael. The season also includes a night of songs made famous by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and one devoted to the art of the satirical song, featuring works by Tom Lehrer, 'Yip' Harburg, Stephen Sondheim and others. The season is curated by series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer, and a line-up of guest artistic directors - Lucie Arnaz, Daryl Sherman, Rob Fisher, and Ted Sperling.
