In the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris, the political controversy surrounding the release of The Interview, and continued suppression of plays, books, and art in American schools, libraries and museums, the battle for freedom of speech and expression is more essential than ever. Planet Connections Theatre Festivity will present an evening of world premiere plays by Erik Ehn, Halley Feiffer, Israel Horovitz and Neil LaBute addressing censorship in the arts in Playwrights for a Cause, to be held at 7:30pm on June 14, 2015 at the Sheen Center, located at 18 Bleecker Street.

Father and son James Fox and Jack Fox star in this brand new stage adaptation of the best-selling Sunday Times Humour Book of the Year Dear Lupin, Letters to a Wayward Son in which renowned journalist and author Roger Mortimer's brilliantly hilarious, often touching and always generous letters to his unruly son Charlie are now vividly brought to life.

Charlie Brooks, best known as Janine Butcher from EastEnders, stars in Beautiful Thing, at The Marlowe Theatre, later this month (March).

Tony Maudsley (ITV1's Benidorm) will play Edna Turnblad in the major 40-week UK tour of Hairspray which will open at Curve theatre in Leicester this autumn. He will be joined by TV and stage actress and presenter Claire Sweeney (Educating Rita, Guys and Dolls) as Velma Von Tussle, Olivier Award nominated actor and much-loved Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan (BBC1 Tumble) as Wilbur Turnblad and British singer and West End performer Brenda Edwards (Chicago, We Will Rock You, The X Factor) as Motormouth Maybelle. Freya Sutton will reprise the role of Tracy Turnblad alongside established musical theatre performer Jon Tsouras (A Chorus Line) who will play the role of Corny Collins. Dex Lee (The Scottsboro Boys) will play Seaweed, Ashley Gilmour (Miss Saigon) will play Link Larkin, Lauren Stroud (Wicked) will play Amber, Monique Young (Top Hat) will play Penny, Karis Jack (Urinetown) will play Little Inez, Adam Price (Hairspray) will play Male Authority Figure, Tracey Penn (Made in Dagenham) will play Female Authority Figure and Layton Williams (Bad Education, Billy Elliot) will play Duane. Further casting will be announced in due course.

To accommodate the high demand for tickets, American Theater Company (ATC), 1909 W. Byron Street, has added performances for its critically acclaimed Chicago premiere of The Royale by Marco Ramirez (Marvel's Daredevil, Orange is the New Black), directed by ATC Ensemble Member Jaime Castañeda. This newly revised script premieres in Chicago prior to its production at The Bush Theatre in London.

In the centenary year of Arthur Miller's birth, as an even brighter spotlight shines on him as one of the most groundbreaking playwrights of the 20th century, Birmingham Repertory Theatre welcomes Talawa Theatre's acclaimed production of All My Sons from 24 to 28 March.

Casting is today announced for the UK Premiere of Carmen Disruption. Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Birdland, Three Kingdoms) makes his Almeida debut with this dramatic reimagining of Bizet's Carmen. Michael Longhurst directs his first production at the Almeida following great acclaim in New York and London for Constellations by Nick Payne.

Snapdragon Productions and Theatre Bench present the world premiere of Teddy - by Tristan Bernays and music by Dougal Irvine. Snapdragon's Eleanor Rhode directs the production which opens on 8 June, with previews from 4 June and runs until 27 June.
