The 2010 Barrymore nominees have been announced! Created in 1994, The Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre are the Greater Philadelphia region's only comprehensive theatre awards program, recognizing artists for excellence and innovation while serving to increase awareness of the richness of the local theatre community. The Barrymore Awards are a nationally recognized symbol of excellence for theatre in this region, raising the bar for the work produced by local theatres and individual artists, and generating significant coverage in all the local newspapers and in national trade publications.Each year, over 120 shows produced by the region's professional theatres are reviewed by the Barrymore Voters. At the annual awards presentation each Fall, the Barrymore Awards are presented to honor the community's collective achievement. Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater is pleased to announce the casts of the six final readings for the 2010 season, including new works by Eve Ensler, Romulus Linney & Eleanor Cooney, Steven Sater & Duncan Sheik, Kate Walbert, Patricia Wettig, and Jennifer Westfeldt (screenplay), as well as a special workshop based on Walton Jones' 1940's RADIO HOUR, directed by Mark Linn-Baker.

South Coast Repertory will start off the new year with the West Coast Premiere of A Feminine Ending, Sarah Treem's romantic comedy about a female musician who aspires to become a composer - but first must find composure in her love life. Directed by Timothy Douglas, A Feminine Ending will run from January 6 through January 27 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. Low-priced previews are available January 6-10. Opening night is Jan. 11. Press night is Saturday, January 12 at 7:45PM.
