Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. Reprise Theatre Company's production of the Pulitzer Prize winning 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' plays at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The production began May 11 and runs through May 23. Opening night for the production is tonight, May 12.

It has been quite a year for director/choreographer Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who was recently nominated for Tony Award for her direction of the Broadway revival of RAGTIME last fall. A workhorse by admittance, Dodge has left herself little time to celebrate, as she finishes prep for the Reprise Theatre Company's production of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, which opens tomorrow May 12 and runs thru May 23 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.

Directed by David Lee, the production's book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Thankfully director David Lee is giving us a presentation of Forum @ Reprise based on the 1972 Broadway revival. Why? Because it includes 2 delightful songs not in the original 1962 New York production: 'Farewell' and 'Echo Song'. These 2 numbers add that extra special touch to Lee's dynamically directed version, which puts the s in silly and could not possibly get any better.

The second annual Las Vegas Easter Bonnet Competition, a fundraiser for the Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach Center, will be held 2 PM April 5 at the Rio Hotel's Chippendales Theatre. The event is produced by Amelia Keene, who appeared in the original Broadway companies of Starlight Express and Anna Karenina, as well as New York's first annual Easter Bonnet Competition.

The Bushnell's fully staged concert version of Meredith Willson's 'The Music Man' proves timeless for the audience and its stars

The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT, celebrated its much anticipated opening night of 'The Music Man' on Tuesday, April 22 at Vito's by the Park. Performed as a semi-staged concert, the 50th Anniversary Tribute stars the legendary Shirley Jones and son Patrick Cassidy, along with Broadway veterans Lisa Vroman and Jason Graae.
