On Monday, August 30th, New York Theatre Barn will present its monthly showcase for emerging writers and performers at the D-Lounge at the Daryl Roth Theater, which will feature the songs of Jake Brandman as well as a presentation of the new musical Substitute Dreams. Executive Producers for NYTB in the D-Lounge are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.

Everyday Rapture's Natalie Weiss will make her Los Angeles debut on September 3rd at Barre Vermont - formerly Upright Cabaret. Audiences at the 9pm concert can expect a mix of musical theatre and pop standards, including ‘The Spark of Creation,' ‘House of Love,' Ironic' among others. Weiss will be joined by a few special guests who will be announced shortly.

Selected plays for SHORT SUBJECTS, a division for plays that run under 60 minutes, will be announced at a later date.

In Ten Reasons I Won't Go Home With You, now playing as part of the Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival, actress/stand-up comic Kelly Nichols plays Katie, a smart, funny and single New Yorker looking to find her one true love.  But as bookwriter of the show, which is inspired by her own dating highs and lows, Nichols is happy playing the field; seeking out and supervising the work of seven composer/lyricist combinations to create the score.  I asked her about this unusual process for creating a new musical.

Last week, Dee Roscioli performed her cabaret debut, 'Decidedly Dee' as part of the Broadway at Birdland series. Fresh off her Broadway run as Elphaba in Wicked, Dee explored her un-green side with a mix of new songs and old favorites. In her cabaret debut, she performed songs penned by friends, including 'See' from David Austin, 'Reasons' by Bobby Cronin and 'Say Goodbye' by Scott Alan. Dee also sang more widely-known songs like 'Many the Miles' by Sara Bareilles, 'People Get Ready' by The Impressions and 'I Think it's Going to Rain Today' by Randy Newman. The music & lyrics of Bobby Cronin in Los Angeles is a one-night only all new concert of ASCAP winning composer/writer Bobby Cronin's music. On Thursday May 27th at Barre on Vermont, the concert will feature songs written for Bobby's numerous projects in the works; THE BEATEN PATH, TIL DEATH DO US PART, CATY BRIDGEWATER, The Untitled Project, and (UN)LUCKY IN LOVE. The concert will feature Cronin on the piano for a night of rockin' uptempos, passionate ballads, comedic tunes, and honest anthems.
