Producer Mark Cortale will present historic six-time Tony Award Winner Audra McDonald with Sirius XM Radio star Seth Rudetsky as music director and host, on Sunday, Jan. 20th for Broadway @ The Herbst, direct from their critically acclaimed performance at Town Hall in New York City. The unique format of this show that differentiates it from any other is a seamless mix of intimate behind-the-scenes stories prompted by Rudetsky's insightful, funny and revealing questions - and the music from McDonald's legendary career. After a run of ten weeks that presented 130 one-person theatre productions from six continents, the world's largest solo theatre festival concluded its ninth season at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York by presenting this year's awards. On behalf of the United Solo Academy, Omar Sangare, the artistic director of the festival, presented the United Solo Special Award to Renee Taylor for her solo show "My Life on a Diet." In her acceptance speech, Ms. Taylor said: "I'm very grateful for receiving an award from Untied Solo - it's a very prestigious honor" and added "I'm very happy to be touring the country with 'My Life on a Diet' - and now I can say I am an award-winning show!"

Award winning actor and playwright David Heron will be honored in New York next week with the Caribbean Life Impact Award in recognition of his career achievements in Entertainment and Entrepreneurship.

Legendary jazz harpist-pianist-singer Corky Hale, who has performed with some of the greatest stars in music history, as well as been a pioneering social activist, is publishing a new biography this month, 'Corky Hale Uncorked,' written by Jerry Leichtling and Arlene Sarner. 

Producing Artistic Director Ethan Paulini has announced Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill as the 3rd show in the 2019 54th Season. Lady Day joins the rotating repertory on July 13 and continues through August. Featuring such iconic songs as "God Bless the Child" and "Strange Fruit," Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill is an thrilling recreation of Billie Holiday's final concert. Filled with humor, hope and unforgettable storytelling, the legendary singer takes us on a journey through the highs and lows of her tumultuous life while treating the audiences to exuberant renditions of her beloved jazz classics. Alumni and audience favorite Shinnerrie Jackson returns to portray the iconic music legend. Creative team and a full schedule will be announced shortly.

Lynn University and Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, today announced that the popular Mabel Mercer Foundation's Cabaret at Lincoln Center Comes to Live at Lynn series will return for a third season on five Wednesdays January through May. Leading cabaret artists will present intimate evenings of song, story and joie de vivre in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center.
