I'm writing these words fully aware that there is no opinion I can express in the ensuing paragraphs that will ever have any effect on anyone's decision whether or not to buy tickets for Manilow On Broadway.  I don't mean that in a self-effacing manner.  I'm also sure that no one ever looked at an ad for Barry Manilow's current concert engagement at the St. James and thought, 'Hmm, this looks interesting but I want to see what Ben Brantley says about it before buying tickets.'

The Chicago City Limits National Touring Company arrives at The Barns at Wolf Trap to perform their highly lauded improvisational parodies. As New York City's longest running comedic act, which in the past has hosted comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, and Robin Williams among others, the actors of Chicago City Limits recount today's hard news through a series of hilariously relevant satirical sketches. In 2008 and 2009 the troupe was bestowed the MAC Award for Best Comedy/Improv Group by The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs.
