MCC Theater today announced the complete cast and creative team for 2017-18 Tow Playwright-in-Residence Jocelyn Bioh's Happiness and Joe, the third of the 2017 PlayLabs readings to be held on October 2nd at 7pm as well MCC Youth Company Alum Lily Houghton's Dear, the final of the 2017 PlayLabs readings to be held on Monday October 16th at 7pm, both at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street).

MCC Theater today announced the complete cast and creative team for Charise Castro Smith's El Hurac n, the second of the 2017 PlayLabs readings, which will be held tonight, Monday, September 25th at 7pm at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street).

First Lady Chirlane McCray and Gabrielle Fialkoff, Senior Advisor and Director of the Mayor's Office of Strategic Partnerships, announced today a partnership between the Gracie Mansion Conservancy and MCC Theater during its 2017/18 season to increase access to arts and culture to at-risk youth. Gracie Mansion hosted the launch event on Wednesday, September 20th, featuring a performance of selected scenes from the Off-Broadway production of Charm, followed by a youth-focused panel discussion. MCC Theater launches its 2017-18 season with the NYC premiere of the acclaimed transgender-themed play Charm- inspired by the real-life story of Miss Gloria Allen. Charm is a play by Chicago-based, Jefferson Award-winning playwright Philip Dawkins and will be directed by Helen Hayes Award winner Will Davis. Charm opened last night, September 18, at the Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street). BroadwayWorld is taking you inside the big night below!

Start spreadin' the news! The ninth annual Jimmy Award winners were announced yesterday at the Minskoff Theatre. This year's finalists included: Sam Primack, Nathan Keffer, Antonio Cipriano, Jasmine Rogers, Hatty King, Maggie Gidden and winners Sofia Deler and Tony Moreno.

The New York cabaret scene has found itself a new star, whether or not anyone was asking for it.
Broadway album designer and social media demagog Robbie Rozelle, who has previously created solo shows for Melissa Errico and Kate Baldwin, decided it was finally Robbie's Turn and brought us SONGS FROM INSIDE MY LOCKER. When he regally ascended to the stage at Feinstein's/54 Below on June 9 as though he were the goddamn mayor's wife, it became immediately evident that this was a man set to lay it all out there for the enjoyment of the masses.

Just last night, New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2017 Spring Gala celebrated partnerships with honorees Dartmouth College, whose residency partnership with NYTW spans a quarter of a century; along with longtime NYTW Usual Suspect and Tony Award-nominated Director Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, War Paint), who was an inaugural member of NYTW's 'New Directors Project' in 1984 and rose to prominence with his direction of Machinal at the Public and Rent at NYTW.
