The Boston Pops Orchestra, Keith Lockhart Conducting: Opening Night with Guest Artists Maggie Scott, Michael Chertock, Bernadette Peters; Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Symphony Hall.

Bill Connington, star of the award-winning play ZOMBIE and Gayton Scott of Broadway's GYPSY (Bernadette Peters/Sam Mendes version) will appear in a special site-specific reading/workshop of THE GLASS MENAGERIE by Tennessee Williams at Vassar College in upstate New York. It will take place on Saturday, May 12 at 5 pm in the Rose Parlor, in the main building on the famed Seven Sisters campus. Also in the cast are William Connell (The Humana Festival) and Annmaire Benedict (ROBESON).

Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 203rd season with an all-new production of Broadway's sensational BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Directed and choreographed by Casey Hushion, the rock n' roll explosion begins previews on May 15th, opens on May 23rd and runs through July 15th on the WST Mainstage.

On Thursday, May 3, 2012 Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's romantic musical comedy The Fantasticks will celebrate its 52nd anniversary. The Fantasticks currently stars triple platinum recording artist Aaron Carter as Matt. Television and stage star John Davidson will join the cast as Henry on June 1.

The man behind the tremendous success of the McCallum's eclectic performance calendar for the past thirteen years is Mitch Gershenfeld, Director of Presentations and Theatre Operations, who will take the helm as the theatre's President and CEO beginning June 1. I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Gershenfeld as he begins preparations for The McCallum's exciting Silver Anniversary Season. Gershenfeld is warm, passionate, highly astute, a performing arts afficionado and a genuinely kind man. Here are a few highlights from that conversation.

The Tony Awards® Administration Committee has announced that Bernadette Peters will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award. Additionally, the Administration Committee will bestow Special Tony Awards to Actors' Equity Association and to Hugh Jackman. These awards will be presented at the 2012 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 10th. The 2012 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
