HERE proudly presents Chiflon, El Silencio del Carbon, by renowned Chilean company Silencio Blanco, a presentation from HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program. This production plays three performances only, February 24 - 26, 2017 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street). This presentation at HERE arrives as part of a U.S. tour, with dates and venues as follows: MCA, Chicago, IL (January 15-24); FUNDarte, Miami, FL (January 25-29); University of Maryland/The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, College Park, MD (January 30-February 5); Raritan Valley Community College/The Theatre, Branchburg, NJ (February 6-12); Bucknell University/Weis Center for the Performing Arts, Lewisburg, PA (February 13-19); HERE, New York, NY (February 24-26); UCLA/Center for the Art of Performance, Los Angeles, CA (February 27-March 5); Boom Arts, Portland, OR (March 6-9).

Commissioned and produced by DANCE NOW, National Intimacy Month is a collaboration between performance duo Chelsea and Magda, choreographer/dancers Bryan Strimpel and Shaina Branfman of B.S. Movement, and choreographer Raja Feather Kelly and his troupe, the feath3r theory. Combining choreography, improvisation, text, live podcasting, and sketch comedy, the work explores the role of intimacy in the creative process and in performance. The cute and the aggressive, the familiar and unknown, the popular and the underrated-all come into play in dynamic, surprising, and humorous ways, complete with commercial breaks and apple pie.

Closing out Crowded Fire's 2016 season of new and contemporary plays is the Bay Area premiere of Young Jean Lee's THE SHIPMENT co-directed by Artistic Director Mina Morita and Resident Artist Lisa Marie Rollins. THE SHIPMENT, which took New York by storm in 2009 caused Time Out New York to call her 'one of the best experimental playwrights in America.' As characterized by The New Yorker, Young Jean Lee 'does whatever she can to get under our skin-with laughs and with raw, brutal talk that at times feels gratuitous, and is meant to.'

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present staged readings for the New York premiere of 'Round Thelonious, a new play with music about the unique relationship between Rothschild heiress Pannonica (Nica) de Koenigswarter and jazz genius Thelonious Monk, written and performed by Anita Pollard. Directed by Shidan Majidi with Musical Direction by Willerm Delisfort (on piano), the readings will be held on Monday, July 25th and Tuesday, July 26th at 7pm at Ripley Greer Studios (939 Eighth Avenue - between 55th & 56th Streets).
