TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris and Jenn Thompson, Co-Artistic Directors), the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway company "dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit," announced today that due to a demand for tickets, two weekday matinee performances (Wednesday, April 4 & 11 at 2pm), have been added for Lost in Yonkers, the final production of the company's 2011/12 season. Directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Jenn Thompson, performances began at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 and the enjoyed an official opening night on Thursday, March 22nd. Performances will continue through Saturday, April 14th.

An ageless tale of fear, greed, and power, The Crucible is a revolutionary work of theater by Arthur Miller. Since the play's Broadway premiere in 1953, The Crucible has enjoyed worldwide success. Local audiences can experience this classic drama when Costa Mesa Playhouse presents The Crucible April 13 - May 6.

The League of Chicago Theatres announces plans for Chicago's celebration of World Theatre Day, including presentations by local and international artists. Events will begin at 4:00pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre and home of the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI-US), invites all theatres, individual artists, institutions and audiences to celebrate the 50th annual World Theatre Day on March 27, 2012. Each year, a renowned theatre artist of world stature is invited by ITI Worldwide in Paris to craft an international message to mark the global occasion. This year the message will be written by award-winning actor, director and producer John Malkovich. Upon its release in March, the message will be translated into more than 20 languages to reach tens of thousands in the international theatre community.

The Emergent Arts Theatre Company will present its first full season of plays this year, starting with Neil Simon‘s The Odd Couple May 24-27 at the Arthur Miller Theatre, 1226 Murfin, in the Walgreen Drama Center, Ann Arbor, MI. Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside of American Blues Theater (ABT), Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, today announced the Ensemble's 27th season. The season kicks off with the world premiere of Illegal Use of Hands by Emmy Award-winner, two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and ABT Artistic Affiliate James Still, directed by Sandy Shinner, August 31 - September 30 and followed by the critically acclaimed It's a Wonderful Life: Live on State Street! , now at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, directed by ABT Artistic Affiliate Marty Higginbotham, November 16 - December 30. ABT's final 2012 -2013 production is Pulitzer Prize playwright Donald Margulies' 2010 Broadway script Collected Stories, co-directed by Steppenwolf Artistic Affiliate Jessica Thebus and Mary Ann Thebus.

OBAMA IN NAPLES, written by Italian Claudio Angelini, is scheduled to play its world premier at the June Havoc Theatre April 25 to May 6.

Northern Stage, considered one of the most prestigious and fastest-growing regional theaters in New England, presents the Tony Award winning play, Red, March 14- April 21. Red was first produced at the 250-seat Donmar Warehouse in London in December 2009, starring Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne. The production transferred to Broadway's John Golden Theatre, with the same cast, for a limited run, from March 11 - June 27, 2010. It picked up six Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Direction, and Best Performance by a Featured Actor (Redmayne), as well as three Drama Desk Awards, including Best Play.
