Driver, Tucker et al Lead LITTLE DOC Cast for Rattlestick Playwrights; Opens 6/17

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Little Doc, written by award-winning filmmaker Dan Klores and directed by John Gould Rubin. Opening the company's 16th Season, performances of Little Doc will begin Friday, June 11 at Rattlestick Theatre (224 Waverly Place). The official opening night is set for Thursday, June 17. The production is scheduled to run through July 18.

The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's resident professional theatre company, continues its 10th season with NINE - The Musical opening June 18 at the theatre, located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tenn. for a run through July 10.

Buck Creek Players Present GHOSTS 6/4-13

Buck Creek Players, the award-winning all-volunteer community theater on the southeast side of Marion County, will present Arthur Kopit's translation of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts beginning Friday, June 4th, and continuing for two weekends through Sunday, June 13th. Curtain times are at 8:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Sundays.

After three successful years of the Playwrights of New York (PONY) Fellowship, the Lark PlayDevelopmentCenter is proud to announce that playwright Tommy Smith will be the 2010-11 PONY Fellow, one of the most unique artist fellowships in the country. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater today announced its roster of plays for 2010-2011, the award-winning company's 16th season. The all world-premiere season will feature provocative new works from Adam Rapp, Heidi Schreck and Florencia Lozano, the first full-length play from award-winning filmmaker Dan Klores, and the debut theatrical outing from the acclaimed singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega.

Today, in honor of the DVD release of Rob Marshall's film version of the 1982 Tony-winning Best Musical NINE, Maury Yeston was gracious and generous enough to grant me a few hours in which I could ask him intimate questions about his life, career and the future of theatre itself. Not one to mince words, Yeston is a veritable font of knowledge and it became clear during the interview that he may be as gifted and talented in his educational and mentorship skills as he is as a two-time Tony-winning composer and lyricist. His stage musicals include two Tony-winning Best Musicals, NINE and TITANIC, as well as: IN THE BEGINNING, GRAND HOTEL, PHANTOM, and the forthcoming DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, as well as a full-length ballet of TOM SAWYER premiering later this year. From the handwritten letter sent by Katharine Hepburn to Frederico Fellini after seeing the workshop of NINE thirty years ago to this very day when NINE hits DVD, we will take a look at this magnanimous maestro's starry career in this inaugural InDepth InterView. NINE Blue-ray/DVD Release Set for May 4

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Rob Marshall's film musical NINE on Blue-ray and DVD on May 4, according to Blue-ray.com. It is reported that bonus features will accompany the discs, including an exclusive interview with Sophia Loren, commentary by Rob Marshall and producer John DeLuca as well as three music vidoes.

Gala Chair Liza Minnelli, her co-host Harvey Fierstein and some of Broadway's biggest stars will appear at the 18th annual Kennedy Center Spring Gala, Sunday, May 2nd at 8:30 pm in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The evening will celebrate Roger L. Stevens, founding chairman of the Kennedy Center, founding chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, and executive producer of over 200 Broadway shows. The evening will feature performances from some of his legendary contributions to Broadway. Casting will be announced at a later date.
