Tonight, February 22 and February 23 and 24, the Houston Symphony invites audiences to Jones Hall for an evening of the music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel as performed by AJ Swearingen and Jonathan Beedle.

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the 2013 Blossom Music Festival season. The Orchestra will present 19 concerts at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Valley National Park from July 3 - September 1.

THE JOHN MILLER QUARTET PLUS 2 will debut at The Cutting Room on Friday, February 1 for two shows after an unprecedented 21 week-run at the New York nightclub 54 Below. You don't have to go far to experience the ambience of New York City's iconic Birdland Jazz Club, when Live at Birdland, featuring the Birdland Big Band directed by Tommy Igoe, appears in Jorgensen's award-winning Cabaret on Thursday, January 31, at 7:30 p.m. The audience will be transported back to a time when a number of illustrious jazz musicians, including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, and Lester Young, to name just a few, made Birdland their New York home.

Stephen Hawking and his fellow physicists may not have yet figured out the formula for traveling through the time-space continuum, but apparently the Metropolitan Room discovered the secret. Last Friday night (October 26), I walked through the curtain into the main performance space and entered a time tunnel that took me from the 21st century into the 1960s and '70s. Two lovely, rising young stars of cabaret, Lauren Fox and Jennifer Sheehan (photo left), had obviously hurtled though that same time warp because in two separate shows on the same evening, they performed songs that had been written and recorded 15 to 25 years before they were born. In the process they transported this particular Baby Boomer joyously back to his youth and to the days of cultural upheaval, generation gaps, peace, love, war, and some of the best pop/rock music ever written.
