Jive along to the brassy beats of Beale Street in 1950s Memphis, where the birthplace of rock 'n' roll reels in an aspiring R&B DJ, who just happens to be white, to spark change in the deep South. Bringing powerhouse numbers to the suburban Atlanta stage, Aurora Theatre debuts its 20th Anniversary Peach State Federal Credit Union Signature Series with the regional premiere of the hit-musical sensation Memphis, playing tonight, July 23- August 30, 2015! Celebrate the power of womanhood, as five Mexican-American women venture down the road of self-discovery in a coming-of-age drama that will shower audiences of all ages with inspiration and courage! As part of Aurora Theatre's annual Teatro del Sol, a Spanish language theatre initiative with a goal of the preservation of Hispanic cultural heritage, Real Women Have Curves plays tonight, April 10-26, 2015. Based on playwright Josefina Lopez's own young adult experiences, this widely recognized portrayal of immigration and its impact on women and their families has sparked a greater conversation and call to action for young immigrants struggling to defy the odds and achieve the American dream.

Aurora Theatre will host Free PLAY Day, a one-day FREE acting workshop as part of their community outreach through the Aurora Theatre Academy on Saturday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. During the day, students will be introduced to improvisation, team building and acting technique through various theatre games and exercises, as well as receive complimentary lunch generously provided by Aurora's Volunteer Guild. Free PLAY Day is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In an effort to thank the community, Free PLAY Day is a way for both the theatre and artists to give back, especially to those who may not have access or means for experiences like this.

Aurora Theatre to Host 5th Annual Barbara Awards Gala, 2/23

Join friends and colleagues for a festive evening honoring local artists and dedicated community members! Aurora Theatre presents the Fifth Annual Barbara Awards Gala on Monday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. Guests are invited to celebrate their favorite Aurora performers in the company of fellow arts supporters. All of the evening's proceeds will go toward continued funding of the theatre's productions, workshops and events. As the consummate professional arts organization in Gwinnett County and Northeast Georgia, these greatly benefit the cultural arts community of metro-Atlanta and surrounding areas. Maybe it's just me, but every time the opening scene goes past the ten minute mark, I am completely drawn into an episode. MADAM SECRETARY has been using this device better than anyone, and tonight's episode was no exception. We are going one step deeper into the conspiracy theory with the Secretary's decision to bring the team to Venezuela for a little diplomacy, and a check into former Secretary Marsh's secret bank account that came to light this week. The trip also brings daughter Stephanie back home to stay with her sister Allison while they are in South America, and Stephanie still has not gotten over her mother's reveal last week about her participation in torture during the Gulf War.

Starring Aurora veteran Anthony P. Disney's MARY POPPINS Breaks Aurora Theatre House Records

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins, which kicked off Aurora Theatre's 19th season, flew to the top of box office records during its seven-week engagement. The "practically perfect'" musical entertained 10,663 patrons over a 43-show period. The 2013 run of Les Miserables previously held the Aurora Theatre house record.
