Native Detroiter and Internationally Awarded Playwright, Actress and Television Writer Dominique Morisseau is returning home with Blair Underwood, Andre Holland and Ruben Santiago-Hudson for a public of event around her cycle of Detroit plays, entitled 'The Detroit Project'. The first acclaimed play in the cycle, DETROIT '67, about the 1967 uprising, is premiering in Detroit May 13-June 5th with the Detroit Public Theatre at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center.

The Obie Award-Winning  Ma-Yi Theater Company presents the New York premiere of HOUSE RULES, a new play by A. Rey Pamatmat, which opened last night, Thursday, March 31st, at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, NYC). HOUSE RULES began previews on March 25th and runs through Saturday, April 16th.  Jessica Hagedorn, Tonya Pinkins ('Gotham'), Cory Michael Smith ('Gotham') and Andre Holland ('The Knick') celebrated with the cast at the opening night party. The Public Theater has announced a one-week extension for the New York premiere of Head of Passes, part of Oskar Eustis' 10th anniversary season. Written byTarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Tina Landau, Head of Passes officially opened last night, Monday, March 28 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, April 17. Last night, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's holiday season at New York City Center kicked off with an Opening Night Gala Benefit. The one-night-only benefit performance and party honored BNY Mellon for its major support of the Ailey Organization since 2007, and Agnes & Gerald Hassell accepted on the institution's behalf.  Film star Chadwick Boseman and actress and Grammy-Award winning artist Brandy served as Honorary Chairs, and the event's co-chairs were Simin Allison, Kathryn & Kenneth Chenault, Debra L. Lee, Doris & Gilbert Meister, Daria L. & Eric J. Wallach and Joan & Sandy Weill. $2.5 million was raised in support of the creation of new works, scholarships to The Ailey School, and Ailey's extensive educational programs for young people.

The Public Theater presents the American play Eclipsed, written by Danai Gurira. Directed by Obie Award winner Liesl Tommy and featuring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o in her New York stage debut, this powerful story of survival and resilience opened at The Public Theater earlier this week, October 14, and will now run an additional two weeks through Sunday, November 29.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that Abe Koogler's Kill Floor is the winner of the 2014 L. Arnold Weissberger Award. The play, which will premiere at Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 this fall, will be introduced to audiences at a reading at Williamstown Theatre Festival on Friday, August 7 at 3:00pm on the Nikos Stage. Lila Neugebauer will direct both the reading and LCT3 production.

With live musical performance by Alexander Sovronsky, puppets and masks created by Matt Cotten of Puppets Among Us, and space travel courtesy of Christopher Gersons's video design, Hang A Tale creates a theatrical landscape to match the magic, poignancy and humor of this beloved classic.
