Atlantic Theater Company has announced complete casting for the New York premiere of Tony and Olivier Award winner Simon Stephens' (Harper Regan, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) Olivier Award winning play On the Shore of the Wide World, directed by Neil Pepe (Marie and Rosetta, Hands on a Hardbody).

Six talented writers are joining The Playwriting Collective in 2017! Starting in February Alex Rubin, Jeffrey James Keyes, John Carhart, Kate Garfield, Wi-Moto Nyoka, and Katie Fabel will meet for a 6-week period with Artistic Directors Joshua Young and Phillip Christian in an effort to create several new full-length plays. The Playwriting Collective puts the playwright first and cultivates work that is transmedia. This year the participating playwrights will be motivated to indulge their imaginations and tell stories that are armed with all the weapons of modern stagecraft.

Due to popular demand, the Signature Theatre production of The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World AKA the Negro Book of the Dead, by Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, has been extended an additional week. The production will now run through December 18, 2016 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

If the plot and characters of Leslye Headland new drama THE LAYOVER appear to be contemporary versions of some old film noir feature you used to watch so often on VHS that the images on the tape deteriorated into grey and white streaks, it may be merely be a suggestion planted into your head by video designer Jeff Sugg, who flashes the faded black and white images before us at lightening speeds between scenes.
