The 2015 Lilly Awards were held on June 1, 2015 and celebrated and honored women of distinction in American theater. The Lilly Awards are given out by The Lilly Award Foundation. This years event was hosted by 2015 Tony Award nominee LISA KRON (Fun Home) and it was held at Playwrights Horizons.

Prospect Theater Company is pleased to announce additional cast members for its 2015 annual gala, a Concert Evening Celebrating Women Making Musicals. This special one-night-only event will be held at The Times Center today, May 16 with an 8pm concert performance featuring Broadway and Prospect stars. The evening's program includes a diverse array of songs written or co-written by women, including encores of work from Prospect productions. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Prospect's ongoing mission to develop and produce new musical theater works by emerging artists.

Drama Learning Center's teen professional company will present Bring It On the Musical next month. Based on the major motion picture franchise of the same name, Bring It On the Musical follows would-be cheer captain Campbell as she is suspiciously re-districted from preppy Truman High to the hard-knock Jackson High. Against the odds, Campbell befriends the head of Jackson's dance crew, Danielle. Together, they form a powerhouse cheerleading squad to stand toe-to-toe with Campbell's old team while they learn about the complexities of friendship, jealousy, betrayal, and forgiveness.

The Tony Awards and Dress Circle Publishing announce a special fan experience at the Tony Awards Pop-Up Shop. Author and musical theater historian Jennifer Ashley Tepper will be joined by Broadway favorites Jay Armstrong Johnson (On The Town), Amanda Green (Hands On A Hardbody), and Jim Walton (On The Twentieth Century) who will be reading excerpts from The Untold Stories of Broadway Volume 2, on Thursday, May 21st from 5:30 - 6:30PM.  The Tony Awards Pop-Up Shop is located at the Paramount Hotel and is open daily to visitors.

A team of more than 100 - including stars from Broadway, film, television, and music - will cast, write, compose, direct, rehearse, tech, and perform four original musicals - all in the obscenely short time between an evening meet-and-greet on Sunday, April 12 and show time tonight, April 13 at 8pm. The event benefits the Exchange's summer program, The Orchard Project, which incubates and accelerates innovative new theatrical work from around the world.

The American Theatre Wing just recognized the recipients of the 2015 Jonathan Larson Grants: writing team Tim Rosser (composer) & Charlie Sohne (composer) receiving $10,000,Sam Willmott (composer/lyricist) receiving $10,000 and a week-long residency at the Running Deer Musical Theatre Lab, and Max Vernon (composer/lyricist) receiving $10,000. This year's recipients were selected by an expert panel consisting of Amanda Green (Hands on a Hardbody), Steven Lutvak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), and Ted Chapin (President and Executive Director of Rodgers & Hammerstein). The prestigious grants totaling $30,000 were presented last night, March 23, 2015 at a private event at the WNYC Greene Space. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from inside the special event below!

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents a new Broadway production of the classic musical On the Twentieth Century starring Tony & Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, Golden Globe, SAG Award winner & Tony nominee Peter Gallagher, Tony nominee Andy Karl, Mark Linn-Baker, Tony winner Michael McGrath and Tony winner Mary Louise Wilson. On the Twentieth Century is choreographed by Tony winner Warren Carlyle and directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis, and features music by Cy Coleman, and book & lyrics by Betty ComdenandAdolph Green. On the Twentieth Century is based on plays by Ben Hecht, Charles MacArthur & Bruce Millholland. The original Broadway production was directed by Harold Prince. The production officially opened last night, and you can check out photos from the red carpet below!
