In celebration of this extraordinary legacy on the occasion of the series' 40th anniversary on PBS, a stellar roster of diverse alumni gather to share their personal stories of what Great Performances has meant to them, with reminiscences and performances by Julie Andrews, Audra McDonald, Don Henley, David Hyde Pierce, Josh Groban, Itzhak Perlman, Peter Martins, Patti Austin and Take 6, Met Opera star El?na Garan?a and Michael Buble. The evening, taped at Lincoln Center last November, will be televised on Great Performances, Today, October 18 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings).

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) is proud to announce that Cicely Tyson will accept the Prince Rainier III Award and filmmaker and New Arts Axis Director, Wendy Levy, and New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, Tiler Peck, will receive Princess Grace Statue Awards at the 2013 Princess Grace Awards Gala on October 30, 2013, at Cipriani 42(nd) Street in New York City.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will kick off a five-week holiday season on December 4thwith a star-studded gala benefit performance at New York City Center and party at the New York Hilton Midtown Grand Ballroom. 27-time Grammy award-winning music icon Quincy Jones and actress Gabrielle Union will serve as the evening's Honorary Chairs.

Fall for Dance at New York City Center wrapped up last weekend with a program featuring four companies, thrilling in their differences. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui/Sadler's Wells London, BODYTRAFFIC, Les Ballet Trockadero De Monte Carlo, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre shared the stage on October 5, for an evening rich in texture and artistic achievement.

In two curated weekends and two different programs, Peridance Presents will feature the following companies: Brice Mousset's OUI Danse, Nathan Trice/RITUALS, Emery LeCrone & Dancers, Enzo Celli's Celli Contemporary Ballet, SHANNON GILLEN + GUESTS and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company.

Just last week, Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced the casting and initial tour schedule for their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera launching a major North American Tour in Providence, R.I. at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America. Green Space is pleased to offer a diverse roster of new/emerging artists in November. Fertile Ground will present new work by various artists and Take Root will present an evening of work by NonaLee Dance Theatre and Mei Yamanaka.

Today, October 13, Las Vegas-based song and dance collaborators Michael Kessler and MeLinda Jackson will welcome guests to their newest Las Vegas show, 'That's Life.' The performance will be held one night only at Summerlin's Starbright Theatre and include the duos' signature song and dance stylings along with fine artist Terry Ritter. The production will intertwine Ritter's live painting with song and dance.

Marking both the inaugural performances under newly appointed Artistic Director Kevin Irving and the final season of Principal Dancer Alison Roper, Oregon Ballet Theatre will present their opening program, DREAM, at the grand Keller Auditorium.

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC) has crafted a one hour version of Marco Ramirez's Six Stories Tall, directed by Tom Arvetis, to be performed Fri., Nov. 8th as part of the Auditorium Theatre's Student Matinee Series. Additionally, ASC will present six school performances of Six Stories Tall at Vittum Theater this November.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world's most popular dance companies, will travel coast to coast beginning in February on a 23-city North American tour hitting major markets such as Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Chicago (full schedule below). The 25th season since the passing of legendary founder Alvin Ailey is led by Artistic Director Robert Battle who continues to expand the Company's diverse repertory with a wide range of important choreographic voices. Exciting premieres and new productions give Ailey's 30 extraordinary dancers even more ways to inspire audiences.

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin previously announced the directors for the Company's 2013-2014 Main Stage season at the Addison Theatre Centre. Directing the season opener, Hank Williams: Lost Highway (tonight, October 11-November 3, 2013) will be Michael Serrecchia.

VON USSAR danceworks presents the 7th Annual Dance Gallery Festival, featuring original works from emerging and renowned choreographers from around the country in three performance programs tonight, October 11, 12, and 13, 2013 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 W. 55th Street, NYC (at Ninth Avenue). The Dance Gallery Festival will perform onFriday, October 11 at 7:30pm and Sunday, October 13 at 3pm. The Dance Gallery UP Close will perform on Saturday, October 12 at 7:30pm. Level UP will perform on Sunday, October 13 at 7pm.

Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden, along with their New York City-based company of dance thoroughbreds have awakened audiences around the world to a new, exciting genre that combines the best of athleticism, lyricism, and technical training and experience. Now America's original multi-cultural dance company brings its passion to Harris Center/Three Stages.

2014 International Dance Season opens with the world premiere of Diana Vishneva: On the Edge, which introduces two new works commissioned by the Center and Ardani Artists for the internationally renowned and award-winning star of the Mariinsky Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. On the Edge is in two acts, and begins with Jean-Christophe Maillot's intriguing piece titled Switch, followed by Carolyn Carlson's profound solo work, Woman in a Room. After this world premiere engagement in Segerstrom Hall, On the Edge will make its European premiere in December at both the National Centre for Contemporary Choreography in Roubaix, France and in Monte-Carlo's Salle Garnier as part of the Les Ballet des Monte-Carlo dance season. There will also be performances in 2014 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in March and at Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg in April.

There will be a memorial celebration for Paul Szilard (Dancer, Producer, Impresario and great friend to the arts) on Thursday, October 31st, 2013 at 1:30 pm at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 18th Street, NYC. There will be performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company, The Avlin Ailey American Dance Theater and Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet; as well as reflections from some of his friends.
