Celebrity Series of Boston will present Regina Carter's Southern Comfort tonight, October 17, 2014, at 8:00pm at Sanders Theatre, Memorial Hall, Harvard University, 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge. This performance is sponsored by Donna and Mike Egan. Additional support is provided by the Expeditions program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the six New England start art agencies.

FirstWorks to Welcome Regina Carter to RISD Auditorium, 10/18

Considered the foremost jazz violinist of her generation, violin virtuoso Regina Carter and her quintet are coming to Providence for the first time. FirstWorks, Providence's premiere performing arts curator, announced today that on Saturday, October 18, 2014, 8:00 pm at the RISD Auditorium, Carter will perform a special open-to-the-public concert after her multi-day FirstWorks' Arts Learning Residency, engaging with students across Rhode Island. Known for her soulful and rooted blending of musical genres, Carter will perform tracks from her latest Southern Comfort album, a continuation of her quest to explore her family roots through the sounds of the violin.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series celebrated a musical trifecta on Monday night, with sublime jazz vocalist Jane Monheit, extraordinary arrangements by Mary Ann McSweeney, and a wealth of Irving Berlin material. The stellar backup band for the evening evening included McSweeney on bass, Jim Ridl on piano, and Alvester Garnett on drums. Several months ago, the Monheit-McSweeney duo teamed up with a swinging take on Cole Porter's iconic score for Anything Goes, to great acclaim.

It was announced today during a live appearance from the stage of the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, that Multi-Platinum recording artist and actress Vanessa Williams is set to join the roster of 'Special Guest Star' vocalists in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical, After Midnight. Williams will play performances from Tuesday, April 1, 2014 through Sunday, May 11, 2014 at theBrooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W 47th Street). Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, After Midnight began preview performances on Friday, October 18, 2013, and opened to rave reviews on Sunday, November 3, 2013.

Just yesterday, producers Scott Sanders and Wynton Marsalis announced the roster of musicians who will form the Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars and play nightly on Broadway in the new musical After Midnight. Hand-picked by Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center's nine-time Grammy and Pulitzer Prize Award-winning Artistic Director, the band includes 17 of the finest soloists and ensemble players in the music world today. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, After Midnight begins preview performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street) on Friday, October 18, 2013 with an official opening night set for Sunday, November 3, 2013. On Monday, March 26, the Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present jazz vocalist Jane Monheit in 'Jane Monheit Swings Cole Porter's Anything Goes.' The evening was the creation of arranger/bass player MaryAnn McSweeney, who also brought the wildly popular 'Avenue Q Swings' to the Birdland stage several years ago.

Brooklyn Museum Presents Adult Public Programs in March and April

During March and April the Brooklyn Museum will present an array of public programs for adults including a panel discussion moderated by Gloria Steinem, a screening of the film Reel Injun, performances by jazz violinist Regina Carter and the Orchestra of St Luke's, a quilt-making workshop, and a new series of engaging adult programs that take place every Thursday evening.
