She Got Off The Couch will have its New York City premiere at experimental performance venue, Dixon Place, as part of the HOT! Festival. Broadway In Chicago has announced that direct from Broadway, THE COLOR PURPLE, the Tony Award-winning revival of the truly remarkable musical adapted from Alice Walker's best-selling novel and directed by Tony winner John Doyle (Sweeney Todd and The Color Purple), will play Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph) for a limited two-week engagement next summer July 17 - 29, 2018.

Holland America Line and O, The Oprah Magazine's Share the Adventure Cruise is adding Pulitzer Prize-winning author Elizabeth Strout, comedian Rita Rudner and O, The Oprah Magazine books editor Leigh Haber to the list of visionaries and authorities who will be on board the July 15 sailing to Alaska. In addition to having the opportunity to enjoy performances by Rudner, guests aboard the ms Eurodam will also be able to join O's Onboard Book Club where Haber will lead the discussion as Strout shares the process and inspiration behind her latest novel, Anything Is Possible.

Having premiered on Broadway in 2005, The Color Purple was first seen on the London stage back in 2013 at the Menier Chocolate Factory. The production, directed by John Doyle, subsequently transferred to Broadway, launching British actress Cynthia Erivo to international stardom.

The British Theatre Academy presents a charity gala performance of The Color Purple to raise money for young performers who cannot afford to train in performing arts. Recent performances have included The Secret Garden at The Ambassadors Theatre and Godspell at St Pauls Church, Covent Garden. This concert features a line-up of West End performers alongside a choir of children from the BTA.

On Thursday, May 25 at 7:30 pm, join acclaimed author and activist Alice Walker in an intimate lecture inspired by her life's work and the exhibition We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965-85. Walker won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1983 for The Color Purple, which was adapted as a movie in 1985 and a Broadway musical in 2005.
