Atlanta-based, nationally acclaimed Elton John tribute artist Craig A Meyer, returning home from a ten-month, nationwide tour in locales from Niagara Falls to Honolulu, announces his ultimate concert of the season, an end of summer blowout to be held September 7 at the Mable House Barnes Theater in Cobb County, where he resides. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES star Christian Bale chatted about a previous gig- starring in the original movie version of Newsies back in 1992. Bale said of the new Broadway show: 'They're having the success our movie never had. I'm not really into musicals. But I wish them the best.'

What's it like to write your first play after all those musicals?

When you're dealing with a musical version of a classic like 'The Little Mermaid,' it becomes nearly impossible to botch a show enough to give viewers reason to hate it. You still have all the popular songs that everyone loves to sing along with (including one adorable little girl sitting in the back on opening night), and you have the iconic characters that we all love so much. Still, for avid fans of the movie or those who had complaints about the Broadway version of 'Mermaid,' the Sacramento Music Circus production of 'The Little Mermaid' doesn't quite live up to the hype.

One of the longest-running musicals Off-Broadway, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS features a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney's 'The Little Mermaid', 'Beauty and The Beast' and 'Aladdin'). As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Diane Paulus' upcoming production of Pippin might be heading to Broadway after it plays Cambridge's American Repertory Theater in December. Now the New York Times is reporting that Broadway favorites Patina Miller, Terrence Mann, and Charlotte d'Amboise are in talks to star in the production as 'Leading Player,' 'King Charles,' and 'Fastrada' respectively. Additionally, Damon Daunno, who recenty starred in Broadway's Brief Encounter is in talks to play the leading role.

Olney Theatre Center has announced the opening of the musical, Little Shop of Horrors. Little Shop of Horrors will run on the Olney Theatre Center's Mainstage from August 1 to August 26, 2012.
