The House Theatre of Chicago presents Season on the Line, the first production of the company's 13th season, at the Chopin Theatre Upstairs Theatre, 1543 W. Division St., Friday, Sept. 12 - Sunday, Oct. 26.

The Cleveland Orchestra embarks on its 14th international concert tour under the direction of music director Franz Welser-Most in September 2014, performing 13 concerts in 7 cities between September 7 and 22.

Florida Grand Opera (FGO) announces its 74th continuous season of producing opera featuring four mainstage productions for its 2014-15 Season, which will include Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, Georges Bizet's The Pearl Fishers (Les Pecheurs de Perles), and Gian Carlo Menotti's The Consul.

Ballet Hispanico, recognized as the nation's leading Latino dance organization since 1970, will perform for the first time at the American Dance Festival at Durham Performing Arts Center on June 20-21 at 8pm, with a special Children's Matinee on June 21 at 1pm. Highlights of the program include Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro's Danzón, which melds Cuban rhythms with jazz improvisation, as well as Show.Girl., the highly anticipated latest creation by ADF audience favorite Rosie Herrera. Broadway headliner and EVITA tour lead Josh Young joined with his EVITA leading lady, Caroline Bowman, to perform the ingratiating and tender ballad 'High Flying Adored' from the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice score earlier this week and a full video of the sensational performance has now been released.

South Florida audiences will once again have the opportunity to see theatre for free, check out new plays in development by South Florida playwrights, and tell the world what the arts - and theatre - mean to them. The success of last summer's Get in Bed With the Arts program and play reading series indicated to the League that theatre patrons are ready and willing to try new theatrical experiences, and even cross county lines to do it.

Lapham's Quarterly announced complete casting for their annual DECADES BALL: The 1870s on Monday, June 2. Lapham's Quarterly announced today that their annual DECADES BALL will be celebrating the 1870s. The gala event will take place on Monday, June 2, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails followed by dinner at Gotham Hall (1356 Broadway). The 1870s gave birth to street lamps in New York City, to The Kentucky Derby, The Brooklyn Bridge, phonographs and the telephone, the first Harvard/Yale game, and P.T. Barnum's "Greatest Show on Earth." The themed evening will be sponsored by Encyclopedia Britannica and will celebrate Lapham's Quarterly's seventh year of publication.

On Friday, May 2nd, Superintendent Alberto Carvalho joined more than 1440 students at the dress rehearsal of Tha?s, Florida Grand Opera's final opera production of the season. “By opening up the dress rehearsals to students, our goal is to provide the younger generation with an up close and personal musical and theatrical experience of the opera art form as well as to foster a new generation of opera lovers,” said Cerise Sutton, Director of Education at Florida Grand Opera. “We are thrilled with the support we have received for our programs from the Miami-Dade County Public Schools from the classroom level all the way up to the superintendent.”

Last night I had the particular privilege of discussing the intricacies and intrigue of William Shakespeare's legendary history play RICHARD III with one of the greatest actors of our age and a true patron of the arts - two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey. Discussing the finer points of his characterization of the hunchback antihero, Spacey paints a vivid portrait of his experiences in reteaming with his AMERICAN BEAUTY collaborator, director Sam Mendes, on bringing a truly 21st century take on the classic play to the stage - and then bringing the production all the way from the hallowed ground of Spacey's own The Old Vic in London, to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City to a whirlwind worldwide tour spanning the globe. NOW, a compelling new documentary following the project from rehearsal through to opening night and ensuing world tour is set to be released next month and is highlighted by the fly-on-the-wall intimacy and access it provides viewers, as well as offering copious performance footage of Spacey and company in action onstage. Plus, Spacey expresses his enthusiasm for starting work on Season Three of the series now that they have been granted Maryland filming tax breaks once again, which was holding up production until this week. Besides all of that, Spacey also clues us in on his future endeavors of interest, mentioning his spate of recent musical performances and his desire to pursue a musical role once again sometime soon following his acclaimed turn as Bobby Darin in musical biopic BEYOND THE SEA. Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, announced today that Adrienne Arsht has pledged $1 million in support of theMet Museum Presents series of performances and talk, now in its second season.
