Last night, Monday, September 9, 2019, The Players honored Tony Award-nominated composer and writer Joe Iconis (Be More Chill) with a Pipe Night, a club tradition that has celebrated significant cultural figures for over a century.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE, Local 800) Film Society and American Cinematheque present the Oscar-nominated Planet of the Apes, celebrating its 50th Anniversary as a science-fiction classic, with a screening followed by a special tribute to the original Production Designer William J. Creber, ADG. The 2018 ADG Film Society Screening Series entitled “Production Design: Designers on Design” is sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter.

Celebrating its 50th Anniversary as a science-fiction classic, Planet of the Apes will headline the next Art Directors Guild (ADG) Film Society's 2018 screening series at the Egyptian Theater on Sunday, June 24 at 5:30 pm. A conversation withPlanet of the Apes Oscar®-nominated Production Designer William J. Celebrated visual artist and Gullah cultural ambassador Leroy Campbell embraces his African roots and the journey to self discovery with the debut of his first coffee table book, My Authentic Self, during the holiday pop-up gallery at The Sol Studio (located at 2073 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., between 123rd St. and 124th St., New York, NY, 10027) November 19, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The gallery will also feature works from Campbell's artist friends April Harrison, Charly Palmer, Maurice Evans, Najee Dorsey, Phyllis Stephens and Sara Bunn. For Campbell, this book release is a celebration of life and purpose. A colorful, thought-provoking collage of literary and artistic mediums, My Authentic Self, strips Campbell of any pretenses to uncover the soul's truth. For readers, My Authentic Self is not only inspiration from one man's journey, but also a challenge to reflect on their lives and see the infinite potential to be whole. Almost as long as there has been photography, performers have used portraits to represent themselves for casting and promotion. In the new exhibition Head Shots: Performer Portraits from Daguerreotype to Digital, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center in Lincoln Center showcases its vast collection of head shots to illustrate the photos' role in the casting and marketing process, as well as how these pictures evolved alongside modern technology. Head Shots is currently on display in The Library for the Performing Arts' Vincent Astor Gallery, Shelby Cullom Davis Museum through August 8, 2015.

The Museum of Modern Art recognizes the achievements of Roman Polanski with a complete retrospective of the filmmaker's works, September 7-30, 2011, in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters. Over the course of a half century, Polanski has become widely recognized as one of the premier international filmmakers, directing films in Poland, England, the U.S., Italy, and France and working with distinguished actors such as Jack Nicholson, Adrien Brody, Catherine Deneuve, Mia Farrow, Ben Kingsley, and Nastassja Kinski.

According to reports, actress Frances Reid died on February 3, 2010 at the age of 95.

Award-winning showbiz entertainers, Corky Hale and Charlotte Rae, will perform in a show emceed by Carl Reiner, with Jeff Lass serving as Music Director. The show, 'A Festive Evening For Westside Center for Independent Living,' is a benefit for WCIL.
