Searchlight Pictures’ Flamin’ Hot, Eva Longoria’s feature film directorial debut, launched June 9th in a historic first for Hulu and Disney+ as a simultaneous premiere of an original film, becoming Searchlight’s most-watched streaming motion picture of all time. The White House invited Longoria to a White House screening for the Bidens.

It stars Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera) as Richard, Annie Gonzalez (Gentefied) as his wife, Judy, Emilio Rivera (Son of Anarchy, High Crimes, Venom) as Richard’s father Nacho, Dennis Haysbert (Far from Heaven, 24) as Richard’s mentor, Clarence, and 4x Emmy® Award winner Tony Shalhoub (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Monk) as PepsiCo CEO Roger Enrico.

Talent on the red carpet included Mel Brooks, Nick Kroll, Ike Barinholtz, Wanda Sykes, Josh Gad, Dove Cameron, Pamela Adlon, Sarah Silverman, Jason Mantzoukas, Poppy Liu, Nick Robinson, Atsuko Okatsuka, others. Yesterday, March 11th, the American Film Institute (AFI) celebrated the 2021 AFI AWARDS honorees with a star-studded invite-only luncheon in Beverly Hills. AFI also revealed its official rationales (below) for all 23 honorees, providing the cultural and artistic context to mark these outstanding creative endeavors as the year’s notable milestones.

Searchlight Pictures “Nomadland” will have its New York premiere as the Centerpiece Selection of the 58th New York Film Festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center, this Saturday, September 26th, with two drive-in screenings in Queens at the New York Hall of Science and Brooklyn located at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

 Fox Searchlight Pictures announced today that principal photography on THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE is underway in Charlotte, North Carolina. The film is written by Abe Sylvia (Dead to Me, DIRTY GIRL) and directed by Michael Showalter (THE BIG SICK; HELLO, MY NAME IS DORIS), and stars Jessica Chastain (MOLLY'S GAME, ZERO DARK THIRTY) and Andrew Garfield (HACKSAW RIDGE, SILENCE). The film is based on Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato's acclaimed 2000 documentary of the same name chronicling the dynamic ascent and subsequent demise and redemption of televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker as described by Tammy Faye herself.

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents of Production, Film and Television Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum announced that principal photography on READY OR NOT has begun in Toronto, Canada.  The film stars Samara Weaving (THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI, “Picnic at Hanging Rock”), Adam Brody (CHIPS, SLEEPING WITH OTHER PEOPLE), Mark O'Brien (ARRIVAL, “Halt and Catch Fire”), with Henry Czerny (“Sharp Objects,” THE A-TEAM) and Andie MacDowell (FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE). Of the Radio Silence team (SOUTHBOUND), Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are directing with Chad Villella executive producing. The script is written by Guy Busick (URGE) & Ryan Murphy (MINUTES PAST MIDNIGHT). The film is being produced by Tripp Vinson (THE PRODIGY, EXORCISIM OF EMILY ROSE) and James Vanderbilt (THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS, ZODIAC).

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents of Production, Film and Television Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum announced today that principal photography has commenced in Vancouver, British Columbia for the horror thriller ANTLERS.  Directed by Scott Cooper (BLACK MASS, CRAZY HEART), the film is written by Henry Chaisson (OPEN 24 HOURS) & Nick Antosca (THE FOREST, CHANNEL ZERO) with revisions by Scott Cooper, from the short story The Quiet Boy by Antosca. In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, become entwined with a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences. 

Molly Smith directs her 30th production as Artistic Director of Arena Stage with a gritty and relevant take on the Tony Award-winning musical OLIVER!, blending the chaotic worlds of 19th-century Victorian London with 2015 London. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the nominees for the 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards.

Amongst the winners were several with Broadway backgrounds: Bill Sherman (composer) and Chris Jackson (lyricist) for Sesame Street's original song 'What I Am' and Willie Reale as a co-executive producer of The Electric Company on PBS.
