From creator and artistic director Lior Kalfo and musical director Shai Fishman comes a spectacular musical demonstration of the virtuosic use of the human voice with no musical instruments.

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 3 pm, The Grand 1894 Opera House presents the Galveston debut of The Voca People. Quirky, playful, imaginative, and fun, this Israel-based eight-member "vocal theater" ensemble (chicly dressed as intergalactic aliens!) reproduces the sounds of an entire orchestra with an amazing variety of beat box vocals and a cappella singing.

The engaging and amusing show VOCA PEOPLE started life as an overnight YouTube sensation. It is now a world-renowned theatrical experience that has been produced in over 20 countries since its inception in 2009. It recently closed a long and highly successful Off-Broadway run at New World Stages before going on tour in the United States. My personal love for VOCA PEOPLE began when I had the pleasure of seeing them perform at Broadway in Bryant Park this past summer and was solidified by seeing the full show in Houston on Saturday.

Home to some wonderfully strange and unique characters, San Francisco should have no trouble welcoming the Voca People. Hailing from planet Voca, the unusual group crash-lands its spaceship in the city every night through June 17, bringing with them non-stop comedy and mannerisms and costumes similar to those of the famed Blue Man Group.

The new hit musical comedy, VOCA PEOPLE, currently playing to standing ovations at Westside Theatre, will be honored by Dylan's Candy Bar (1011 Third Avenue at 60th Street) with a new Voca Ice Cream Flavor. 'Voca Vanilla' is Dylan's classic Vanilla Ice Cream which will be renamed and makes its debut Friday, October 7th at 2pm at Dylan's. 'Voca Vanilla' will be unveiled with a performance in the cafe by the white-faced, red-lipped VOCA PEOPLE. This is the first time Dylan's Candy Bar has renamed an ice cream flavor.
