The Boiler Room Theatre, Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company, will stage acclaimed American musical, Floyd Collins. The production will run from tonight, April 19th through May 4th at the theatre's iconic namesake venue in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tennessee.

Photographer Stacy Battles, one of Nashville's best known celebrity photographers, was on hand to shoot the red carpet arrivals that heralded the return of First Night, after an absence of some 14 years. First Night is presented by Jeffrey Ellis, who covers Nashville theater for BroadwayWorld.com, and who is the founder of the awards celebration that was first held on September 17, 1989.

In Europe, the Nazis had invaded Poland, in Washington, D.C. FDR was dealing with an isolationist Congress and people the world over worried about the possibility of a war to eclipse the horrors of The Great War. But in Atlanta, the Levys and the Freitags were more concerned, in the long-term, about marrying off their two daughters and, in the short-term, finding escorts for the two girls to the ball that serves as the climax to Ballyhoo, the South's preeminent social whirl for the region's more affluent Jews.

Since that time, Maryanna's artistic focus has changed somewhat, and now she is artistic director for the Nashville-based Tennessee Women's Theatre Project, which is dedicated to 'presenting theatricial productions of the highest quality to Middle Tennessee audiences, to producing plays that express the human condition in the female voice; to providing acting, directing, design and management opportunities for women in professional theater; and to bringing live theater to new, underserved audiences.'
