Initiated & hosted by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, a number of theatre companies will come together at 1:00 PM (ET) this Wednesday, October 28 to present an unprecedented virtual play reading - in Yiddish, English, Spanish, Italian, Turkish and Hebrew - of 'It Can't Happen Here', a dramatization of the 1935 novel by Sinclair Lewis.

This October, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (Folksbiene)-led by Zalmen Mlotek, Artistic Director, and Dominick Balletta, Executive Director-presents Folksbiene! LIVE: 'Welcome to Our Suke/Sukkah', a four-day festival of family-friendly performances during Chol Hamoed.

A populist candidate, promising to return the country to greatness, becomes president of the United States, and then all hell breaks loose in It Can't Happen Here, a new play based on Sinclair Lewis' eerily prescient 1935 novel, adapted for the stage by Tony Taccone and Bennett S. Cohen. Foothill Theatre Arts presents It Can't Happen Here, directed by Bruce McLeod, for three weeks only, now through November 19, 2017 at the Lohman Theatre, on the Foothill College Campus (at the bottom of the hill), 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. That is what Nobel Prize winner Sinclair Lewis did in his long forgotten play IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE, which uncannily reflects the current the state of American politics. The Peccadillo Theater Company will present a staged reading of IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE, last seen on the New York Stage in 1936, for one night only on Monday, March 21st at 7:30 pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South).
