Jerry Manning BIO

This year marks Jerry’s second season as Artistic Director. Mr. Manning joined Seattle Rep in 2000 as Associate Artistic Director overseeing casting. In 2008, he was named Producing Artistic Director. Seattle Rep directing credits include Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, boom by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb; Thom Pain (based on nothing) by Will Eno and Patriot Acts. He will direct Doug Wright’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, I Am My Own Wife this spring. As a producer Mr. Manning was on staff at New York Theatre Workshop for seven seasons and at Arena Stage for eleven years. Jerry has done extensive casting work in film and television. He has conducted workshops at graduate theater programs across the country and has an ongoing relationship with the National Endowment for the Arts where he has served as a reader, site reporter and peer panelist.

Three best friends from Washington got together and decided to make a musical. The rest is history - or at least it will be when the cast of LIZARD BOY makes their San Diego debut at Diversionary Theatre this September. Kirsten deLohr Helland, Justin Huertasand William A. Williams make up the entire cast and band of LIZARD BOY, a fantastical comic-book rock concert-slash-theatrical explosion. Director Brandon Ivie originally staged the show at Seattle Repertory, and will return to stage it fresh for Diversionary.

Braden Abraham Named Acting Artistic Director of Seattle Rep


Seattle Repertory Theatre's Board of Trustees announced today Braden Abraham's appointment as Acting Artistic Director, effective immediately. Abraham formerly served as Associate Artistic Director and has been on the artistic staff of Seattle Rep since 2003. The appointment, extending through June 30, 2016, comes on the heels of the death of Artistic Director Jerry Manning, who passed away suddenly in April.

A memorial service has been set to celebrate the life of Seattle Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Jerry Manning, who died at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle on Apr. 30 due to complications from surgery for a congenital heart defect. An all-around theatre practitioner, Jerry was a beloved leader, director, producer, mentor and friend. Well-regarded by his peers, he was known for his biting sense of humor, irascible spirit, and sharp mind. He was 58.

Jeffrey Herrmann to Depart Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company


Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces that at the end of its Season 34 this June, Jeffrey Herrmann will step down as Managing Director following a seven-year tenure. He will be heading to the Pacific Northwest to take on the role of Managing Director at Seattle Repertory Theatre, where he will replace Ben Moore, who is retiring after 28 years as the theatre's current Managing Director. He leaves behind a great artistic and financial legacy, having almost doubled Woolly's size during his time here in DC, spearheading the theatre's innovative Connectivity initiative, providing leadership for Woolly's "Free the Beast!" campaign, and purchasing the theatre's building.

Jeffrey Herrmann Named New Managing Director of Seattle Repertory Theatre


Seattle Repertory Theatre Board President Becky Lenaburg announced today the appointment of Jeffrey Herrmann as the Rep's incoming managing director, effective July 1, 2014. Mr. Herrmann will succeed departing Managing Director Benjamin Moore, who has led the organization for 28 years.
