'We are opening our season with just the perfect show for a Laguna Beach Summer,' comments Laguna Playhouse Executive Director Ellen Richard.  Adds Artistic Director Ann E. Wareham 'We welcome Paula Hammons Sloan and the 'nicest kids in town' back to our stage for this nostalgic musical confection. Talent abounds on our stage this Summer!'  HAIRSPRAY will begin previews on Wednesday, July 5; will open on Sunday, July 9 at 5:30pm and will run through Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach.

Broadway's Carly Rose Sonenclar is among THE X FACTOR 'Sweet 16' finalists chosen by the judges. Carly, who is twelve years old, played 'Chloe' in Broadway's 2011 'WONDERLAND- A New Alice. A New Musical.'

The X Factor got off to a late start today, pushed back by baseball (and an episode of Ben & Kate, for reasons I still don't fully understand). Village Theatre announces the return of the new musical CLOAKED to the organization's nationally renowned new works program, Village Originals. CLOAKED is the first Village Theatre developmental production to be produced at the newly reconstructed First Stage Theatre, and it will run August 12-21, 2011-it is open to the public.

For awhile now, we have been receiving press materials and hearing about The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), but never witnessed the group first-hand. Well, that all changed this past Saturday night, in Philadelphia, when we decided to go to the Kimmel Center and see the 2011 Summer-Intensive weekend showcase, this year titled TRUE COLORS. I can honestly say that our jaws dropped. Directed and hosted by the newest addition to their impressive faculty line-up, Richard Jay-Alexander, the evening was like watching a skillfull PLAYLIST of Broadway 'gold' and 'showstoppers.' Two ACTS worth!
