Lo scorso Primo Maggio Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton) e Katharine McPhee (Waitress) hanno annunciato le nominations dei Tony Awards 2018 che, anche quest'anno, si terranno al Radio City Music Hall di New York il 10 Giugno. I premi saranno presentati da Josh Groban (The Great Comet) e Sara Bareilles (Waitress, Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert) entrambi nominati nelle scorse edizioni e che per la prima volta saliranno sul palco come presentatori.

Oh the Thinks you can think when you think about Seuss! Plunging audiences, striped-hat-first, into Dr. Seuss's whimsical world, Seussical takes over the Allenberry stage with all your favorite Seuss characters including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gerturde McFuzz, Mayzie La Bird, and a little boy with a big imagination, Jojo. Bursting with frivolity and imagination, the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many 'thinks'. Horton faces a double challenge. Not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Seussical is fun for the whole family!

An ornery ogre, a peculiar princess, a talking donkey, a vertically-challenged villain, and a love struck dragon are headed to the Allenberry Resort! Shrek The Musical, the Broadway sensation based on DreamWorks Animation's 2001 blockbuster film, will run at The Playhouse at Allenberry from July 7 through 22, 2017.

'ORFEO 9' e un'opera rock scritta e musicata da Tito Schipa jr. ed andata in scena per la prima volta il 23 gennaio del 1970. Si tratta di uno spettacolo che utilizza il mito di Orfeo per descrivere 'l'avventura di questo tormento e rinascita tra il '68 e il 70', per usare le parole dell'autore. L'opera debutta al Sistina all'interno di una rassegna di teatro giovanile organizzata da Garinei e Giovannini, e nel 1973 ne viene fatta una versione cinematografica con i meravigliosi arrangiamenti di Bill Conti. Tra gli interpreti figurano gli allora sconosciuti Renato Zero e Loredana Berte - reduci dalla messa in scena sistiniana di 'Hair' - e Tullio De Piscopo tra i musicisti.

Tratta dalla controversa piece teatrale di Frank Wedekind Risveglio di Primavera, pubblicata nel 1891 e a lungo oggetto di censura per la scabrosita e la provocarieta dei temi, l'opera mette in scena l'amore fra due quattordicenni e il drammatico conflitto tra un gruppo di adolescenti e i loro genitori e insegnanti. SPRING AWAKENING ha riscosso un clamoroso successo di critica e di pubblico e si e ben presto affermato come uno degli spettacoli piu originali e innovativi.
