I know it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted!! I've been very busy with exams, but now they're done!

The last few rehearsals before Christmas were run-throughs. We've been preparing for the Home Stretch in January. As with most shows I've done, when I get to this point, I realize that we're in the Home Stretch and have a moment or two of disbelief because it doesn't seem like we've been rehearsals for long enough.

For our opera workshop, the Home Stretch is in January. We have rehearsals beginning on January 7th after Holiday Break, with rehearsals almost everyday between then and January 27th followed by Opening Night on January 28th and closing, after a short two-performance run, on January 29th. We've been in rehearsals since the beginning of September and have had the scores since July. We have all put tireless hours into preparing our material.

As with many shows I've done, I'm in disbelief that we are already here! I truly can't believe that we open (and close) in just over a month!

The other thing that happens in January as part of the Home Stretch is the production end. While the designs are done before we have our last rehearsal for the first semester, when we enter the temporary theatre, "Jeanne-de-Valois", the sets are getting completed, and we get our costumes. This moment is probably the one we look forward to most! But I will write more about these as they happen in January!

This installment will be my final before the New Year, since we do not have rehearsals over the Break.

So, I wish all of you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

See you in 2017!
