Clifford the Big Red Dog is turning 50. The giant canine will lope onto Jorgensen's stage Sunday, February 12, in two matinees at 1 and 3 p.m. in "Clifford the Big Red Dog LIVE!"

The big guy is on tour in this special anniversary new musical for 2012-13, and makes an early stop in Storrs.

About the show: "Clifford and his frisky friends Cleo and T-bone plus his favorite two-leg – Emily Elizabeth – doggedly delight fans of the popular PBS KIDS® show based on the award-winning Scholastic book series by Norman Bridwell. Audiences will learn the value of big ideas like friendship, believing in yourself and teamwork on Birdwell Island and everywhere."

In this show, Emily Elizabeth wants to put on a musical revue with her best friends, and the gang decides it should be about Clifford's life from puppyhood.

Clifford is featured in television episodes airing in more than 110 countries and more than 126 million books in print.

Scholastic's multi-year BE BIG! outreach campaign invites everyone, big and small, to take action and raise awareness of how Clifford's Big Ideas can make the world a better place. Activities in schools, on Facebook and in other media include a BE BIG contest and school curriculum events.

"Clifford the Big Red Dog LIVE!" is part of Jorgensen's Bank of America Children's Series.
