Richmond Symphony Presents A GIVING TUESDAY CHALLENGE

Non-profits around the country are preparing for Giving Tuesday tomorrow, November 29. All first-time donors who make a gift to the Richmond Symphony between now and December 31, 2016 will have their donations doubled. Donors can give to the Symphony's general Annual Fund, or to any of three special projects listed below on Razoo.com.

I Support Live Music in RVA is an opportunity for individuals to show their appreciation for artistic excellence while becoming part of the show. Donors who give $25 and above can have their name, or the name of a loved one, engraved on a new "Conductor's Stand," a commissioned work of art highlighting the community's commitment to music in RVA. Proceeds will support the Symphony's artistic excellence initiatives.

For those who appreciate the importance of starting music education young, I Support Music Education in RVA supports the Symphony's Music Education initiatives, and in particular, the Musical Ambassadors Program (MAPs) which brings chamber ensembles into classrooms, sharing live music with more than 45,000 school children in Richmond Public Schools and the metro area each year.

Since our city is only as strong as our families, the Richmond Symphony has committed to give free tickets to Altria Masterworks and Dominion Casual Fridays attendees 17 and under. Now residents can help the Symphony to keep this initiative by underwriting admission for 500 young people, giving them the opportunity to experience live orchestral music in the Dominion Arts Center's Carpenter Theatre through the I Champion Music in RVA campaign. Founded in 1957, the Richmond Symphony is the largest performing arts organization in Central Virginia. The organization includes an orchestra of more than 70 professional musicians, the 150-voice Richmond Symphony Chorus and more than 260 students in the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra programs. Each season, more than 200,000 members of the community enjoy concerts, radio broadcasts, and educational outreach programs.
