Tea For Toot presented by full.stop.theatre

Until Saturday 5th June @ 6.30PM

tickets $18 full / $13 concession

"Original and as quirky as anything seen at Bats recently, it is full of humour, much of which is uproariously funny... This is a first-rate, new and original play, full of twists and turns and creatively brought to life by the actors. A must see." - Ewen Coleman, The Dominion Post

"Tea For Toot is a hoot and more, in its deft exorcising of those once-loved childish things we must put away, or at least get into perspective." - John Smythe, Theatreview

A cautionary tale of unlikely guests and sibling survivalry, inspired by the lives of Enid Blyton's daughters and David Mamet's Duck Variations.

Tea for Toot depicts an unusual week in the life of Georgia and Emily, the two elderly daughters of a fictional children's author named Mary Waters. Mary Waters' oeuvre included two popular and long running series, The Nautical Nine and The Thrifty Three, as well as hundreds of charmingly illustrated books featuring Toot, a mischievous young elf whose trumpet nose makes a distinctive "toot". Sound familiar?

Toot's friends comprise a menagerie of recognisable and uncomfortably politically-incorrect forest folk including Mumble Bear (the bear who loves to dance), the dirty and deceitful gypsy chimpanzee family the Codswollops , and Niggles the Golliwog...

Mel Parsons & Guests
Opens Thursday for three nights only! Until Saturday 29th May @ 9PM
tickets $20 full / $14 concession

Folk Tui finalist and 'country sweetheart' Mel Parsons presents a three-night series of intimate shows at the wonderful BATS Theatre (yay!) in Wellington for NZ Music Month in May.

Parsons, renowned for her live 'spark' and 'pin-drop' performances; will be performing new and favourite toe-tapping tunes for the BATS shows. Accompanying Parsons will be members of her band The Rhythm Kings and a super-star line up of guests including Jess Chambers (The Woolshed Sessions) winner of the APRA 2009 Best NZ Country Song and Barry Saunders (The Warrahtahs).

A West Coast native, Parsons has had a stellar year since her last foray to the Capital in 2009 to launch debut album Over My Shoulder which was a finalist for 'Folk Album of the Year' at the Tui NZ Music Awards.

"New Zealand's own country sweetheart brings us her heartfelt ramblings, ardently packaged with equal parts break-up blues, lovesick lullabies and soul-purging poetry.... a gorgeous catalogue of honest Kiwi folk songs."

Check her out on Mel's own website, and also on MySpace.

In The Pit Bar
This week we'd like to alert you to the fact that the bar has some pretty sweet deals going on right now - amazing bar specials that change each night! So you should come down everynight for warming fun special times! Gareth also informs me that Mulled Wine will make a special appearance too.

We're loving our awesome friends at Emersons, and rejoicing in the fact that we have Bookbinder in stock now too - yes they're big bottles, but this one is only 3.7% so you feel pretty chaste drinking it. We'll see you down here for a warming tipple soon!

And finally: Attention Wellington creatives the wonderful Pit Bar at BATS Theatre is now looking for new musicians, artists, poets, comedians, magicians or anyone creative with something entertaining to share!
The Pit is the perfect size for small shows and exhibitions and has had great success with them in the past so please come in Tues-Sat from 5:30pm or call us on 8024176 and chat to Gareth or Bryony about ideas for your gig or show.
