PHANTOM Tour's Cooper Grodin Visits Graceland

Actor Cooper Grodin, who plays the Phantom, on the 25th Anniversary U.S. tour of The Phantom of the Opera, once played Elvis in a regional theatre production of Those Fabulous 50s and 60s. During the iconic musical's recent stop in Memphis, the home of Graceland and Elvis, Cooper, still a big fan of The King, was invited to tour his home.

As these photos show, Cooper could not resist getting his Elvis on, and says that having a chance to play Elvis was a "dream because the audience could not have been more willing to suspend their belief and go on the fantasy ride. The man is beyond all comprehension. As Lennon said, Before Elvis, there was nothing."

Cooper, one of the youngest actors to put on the iconic Phantom mask, makes no bones about wanting to take on Elvis again. But right now, he is enjoying the opportunity to use that big tenor/baritone, three-octave range voice in the role of a lifetime with The Phantom of the Opera tour.

Prior to joining the Phantom cast, Cooper had been on the road with the 25th Anniversary tour of Les Miserables.
