A THOUSAND KINDNESSES is new one-woman show written and performed by award-winning Scottish theatre practitioner Rachel Jury, who is on a quest to reclaim kindness as a challenge to the inhumanity of war.

Exploring migration, asylum, and kindness based on interviews with people with personal experience of these issues, it is also the story of how Rachel's Dad waskind, but she didn't want to be like him.

"It's hugely topical because it is about migration and understanding the human stories behind these migrations and the role that kindness plays in that.

"It is an important rhetoric to have as it is not part of the normal rhetoric we hear about migrants - that they are coming to take our jobs and so on - this is a different rhetoric and is a challenging piece of theatre about a challenging subject," said Rachel Jury.

We welcome all new stories, so if you have one to share to help Rachel with her quest, get in touch.

As verbatim theatre, Rachel reflects on and recalls the voices of those who have shared some of the worst times of their lives with her, as their gift to her, to help her in her mission.

"For one contributor in particular, it is vitally important for her that this is happening and that someone can do this and can take her story out to the world, taking it to all sorts of different people, in different places. It gives her story a meaning, a purpose. We are promoting kindness through these stories. The show is working on a lot of different levels - for me the focus is on kindness, but it is also raising awareness of asylum seeker and refugee issues, war, migration, humanity," said Rachel Jury.
