Summer Performance Workshop & Call for Paid Interns at Theatre Memphis

Theatre Memphis is offering a unique alternative to the typical summer youth camp experience with the opportunity to be part of a full scale production on the Lohrey Stage. Four paid intern positions will be associated with the workshop and other performance opportunities.

The workshop is for youth ages 6 - 18 and each participant will have the chance to perform and help create the show. Auditions will be held June 16, 2017, at 1pm, with rehearsals running June 19 through July 12. There will be three performances: July 13, 14 and 15 at 2pm. Boys and girls ages 6 - 10 will rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from9 -11am for the first two weeks. They will eventually join the older cast for rehearsals Monday - Friday in the afternoon, all of which will be held 1 - 4pm. There will be no rehearsal on July 4, 2017. All auditions, rehearsals and performances will take place at Theatre Memphis, 630 Perkins Extd., Memphis, TN, 38117. Cost for participation is $200 per person. All who sign up for the Summer Performance Workshop will participate in the show. Auditions are held after registration to assign specific roles. The Summer Performance Workshop size is limited.

The intern positions are a five week performance and educational offering to college students seeking a fun and hands-on way to gain college internship credit as members of the ShoWagon troupe, part of the Theatre Memphis Department of Outreach and Education. Interns will serve as both actors and teachers whose duties will include assisting and performing in the Summer Performance Workshop. They will also perform in a condensed "radio" version of the Summer Performance Workshop show touring Memphis libraries that will be recorded as a as part of a collaboration with Chatterbox Audio Theatre.
