A true statesman of the piano, Irishman Jon O’Conor celebrates his heritage with compatriot John Field’s Piano Concerto No.1 in E-flat major, along with Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C K467 (Elvira Madigan). Carl Maria Von Weber is known more popularly by his operatic overtures and concertos. We open with his Symphony No. 1 and a chance to delve more deeply into this early Romantic master. Stravinsky’s short, neoclassical work Suite No. 1 for Small Orchestra, opens the second half of our season finale concert.
